WAIIS, the Spanish startup specializing in smart shared mobility, has closed a €1 million funding round, its third and largest financing round since inception. The transaction included participation from private investors and companies and will enable the business to accelerate growth, strengthen its technological development and roll out nationwide what aims to become Spain’s first shared mobility super app.

Today’s mobility landscape remains fragmented across multiple applications and services. Users rely on different platforms to carpool, book taxis, travel between cities or commute daily to work and university. WAIIS was founded with a clear mission: to become the go-to app for anyone looking to travel more affordably.

“We want people to think of WAIIS first whenever they need to get from one place to another and save money. Our goal is to become the benchmark for shared mobility in Spain,” said Paulo Gómez, Co-founder and CEO of WAIIS.

WAIIS closed 2025 with €2 million in revenue, consolidating its growth within the urban and shared mobility market. For 2026, the company expects to reach €5 million in revenue, supported by aggregate monthly growth of nearly 12%. It also expects to surpass 100,000 active users by year-end while consolidating Spain’s main shared mobility corridors, laying the foundations to reach one million users in the coming years.

Paulo Gómez, CEO of WAIIS:

“We want to make car sharing as easy as hailing a taxi.”

The funding round comes at a time when mobility efficiency has become one of the key challenges facing cities. According to Spain’s Director-General for Traffic, between 80% and 85% of vehicles circulating during peak hours carry only one person, increasing congestion, energy consumption and emissions.

Shared mobility is emerging as an alternative to optimize transportation and make better use of available vehicle capacity. WAIIS aims to build a network capable of connecting people travelling on similar routes with private drivers who have available seats, reducing existing inefficiencies and enabling a more sustainable and accessible way to travel.

Although vehicle sharing offers significant economic and environmental benefits, most platforms have traditionally required substantial advance planning from users, limiting widespread adoption.

“WAIIS is bringing many of the principles that transformed the ride-hailing industry into the shared mobility space. Through artificial intelligence, mobility pattern analysis and advanced automation, we identify users with compatible journeys and simplify the entire process of searching, coordinating and booking trips,” the company explained.

For WAIIS, the objective is for vehicle sharing to stop being perceived as an occasional alternative and instead become an everyday, reliable and convenient transportation solution.

“For years, hailing a taxi has been easier than sharing a ride. We want to change that. We are applying the user experience principles of ride-hailing platforms to make vehicle sharing just as practical and intuitive for millions of people,” Gómez added.

From a Carpooling Platform to a Shared Mobility Super App

While shared mobility remains at the core of its proposition, WAIIS’s vision extends far beyond carpooling. The company is building a platform capable of progressively integrating different transportation alternatives within a single digital experience, allowing users to access various mobility solutions based on their needs.

The company’s ambition is for users to manage most of their daily transportation needs from a single application, seamlessly combining different shared transport options through a simple and intuitive experience.

“Other companies transformed specific mobility segments. We want to connect the entire shared mobility ecosystem within a single experience. We are not building a carpooling app; we are building a new way to move,” said Gómez.

Proprietary Technology and Hiberus Support to Scale the Model

To support this new growth phase, WAIIS is backed by Hiberus, one of Spain’s leading technology companies, with an international presence and thousands of professionals specializing in digital transformation and innovation.

The partnership is accelerating platform development, enhancing scalability and preparing the technological infrastructure required to support the company’s projected growth over the coming years.

“We have a highly ambitious vision and need to build a platform capable of serving millions of users. Hiberus provides us with the technological capabilities and expertise required to execute that vision successfully,” Gómez highlighted.

WAIIS’s vision is clear: to make shared mobility the easiest, most accessible and most affordable way to travel by connecting users, operators and technology within a single platform.
