Sensesbit, the SaaS platform specializing in advanced sensory analysis for the food industry, has closed a €1 million funding round to accelerate its international expansion across Europe and the Americas. The round included participation from Clave Capital, Eoniq Fund, WindOne Consultores, and Paraíso Natural Ventures, the investment vehicle promoted by the Central Lechera Asturiana Group.
The funding will enable the Spanish foodtech company to strengthen its international presence, further develop its artificial intelligence capabilities for sensory analysis and strategic decision-making, and expand its teams across key areas including product development, data science, and business development.
"Our industry has spent decades optimizing costs, processes and production. The next major competitive leap will come from understanding, measuring and anticipating how consumers feel. That is Sensesbit's mission: to make Sensory Intelligence the new standard for strategic decision-making across the food industry," said Maruxa Quiroga, CEO and co-founder of Sensesbit, a STEM entrepreneur and PhD in Sensory Analysis.
The company already operates in more than 10 countries, working with some of the leading food manufacturers across Europe and Latin America and serving more than 100 recurring industrial customers. Its platform has evolved from a quality and product innovation tool into a strategic solution supporting decision-making across multiple business functions.
"We don't simply analyze consumer perceptions—we transform science into decisions with measurable financial impact. By combining scientific expertise with artificial intelligence, we enable companies to develop products that consumers are genuinely willing to buy again," Quiroga added.
Bridging the Gap Between Industry and Consumers
Traditionally, sensory analysis has been a scientific discipline that was difficult to scale, time-consuming, and heavily dependent on specialized experts. Sensesbit has transformed this expertise into an AI-powered SaaS platform capable of digitizing, standardizing, and scaling sensory intelligence for the food industry.
Every year, food manufacturers launch thousands of new products, yet a significant proportion fail to achieve commercial success. According to Sensesbit, the underlying reason is a structural disconnect between what companies produce and what consumers actually want. At the heart of this gap lies the sensory experience.
"Taste remains the number one driver of repeat purchases. If consumers do not establish a sensory connection with a product, they simply won't buy it again," said Quiroga. "For decades, industrial decisions have been based on fragmented information. Sensory analysis is becoming the strategic compass for companies seeking to innovate successfully."
Scaling AI-Powered Sensory Intelligence
The new funding will also support the expansion of Sensesbit's AI capabilities. Since 2026, the platform has integrated agentic AI, incorporating intelligent agents capable of analyzing large volumes of sensory data, identifying patterns, generating recommendations, and assisting business teams in making faster, more accurate and objective strategic decisions.
Founded by four scientists from a research group at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), Sensesbit is backed by both USC and UNIRISCO. The company has transformed more than 25 years of research in sensory analysis and consumer perception into a SaaS platform that digitizes, standardizes and enhances decision-making in product innovation, quality management and product development.
Its technology received international recognition after being named Most Innovative Startup at the Ftalks Food Summit Startup Awards 2025.
