CD Castellón has been acquired by Haralabos Voulgaris. The exclusive financial advisor to the club has been Livingstone Partners representing the seller, Capital Albinegro, S.L.
After completing the 5 year strategic plan undertaken by Capital Albinegro, strengthening the club management and playing structure, culminating in the club’s centenary year, Vicente Montesinos, the CEO of Capital Albinegro, asked Livingstone Partners to find an ideal candidate to lead the club into a successful future. The primary goal of Capital Albinegro was ensuring stability for the club and a project designed to maximize the chance of success.
During its 100 years of existence, CD Castellón has consistently been among the most prominent Spanish soccer clubs, remaining for 65 years in Spanish professional soccer. It is a historic club with a unique fan base. Since Capital Albinegro took control of the club, season-ticket holders have averaged 13,000 per year.
Livingstone received offers from numerous interested parties from around the world, and worked loosely with both buyer and seller to ensure a common vision and a smooth transition for the club.
“We are delighted to have found a very strong new owner for CD Castellón, who will work tirelessly to ensure the future success for the club, with a vision that will excite the loyal supporter of Castellón. Working with Vicente Montesinos and Capital Albinegro has been a pleasure, and their insistence on finding the best investor for the future of the club speaks volumes about their priorities in the deal”, commented Neil Collen, partner at Livingstone, who led the deal.
“Livingstone Partners wishes the best of luck to the new owners. We hope to see CD Castellón back in professional football soon. This transaction once again demonstrates rising the global interest in Spanish football”, commented Guillem Vercher, analyst at Livingstone, who assisted in the deal.
