King & Wood Mallesons ("KWM") has advised the aerospace company Hispasat on the acquisition of a 10.85% stake in Grupo Sylvestris, a reforestation company also owned by Fundación Repsol.

The transaction is part of the collaboration agreement between Hispasat and Repsol to rehabilitate Spanish forests. Hispasat's contribution will include the development of solutions for measuring carbon dioxide (CO2) captures and certification of reforestation projects of the Motor Verde program promoted by Repsol, whose goal is to replant 70,000 hectares of forest in the coming years.

Through its entry into Sylvestris, Hispasat will also address the development of solutions to prevent fires, sensorize rural areas and provide satellite connectivity. Hispasat will invest around one million euros in these technologies in 2023.
