Kibo Ventures, one of Southern Europe’s leading early-stage boutique venture capital firms, announces the launch of Kibo Ventures Fund IV, a new €120 million fund designed to back the next generation of global technology companies emerging from Europe.

The first close—completed in just six months—together with recent commitments, brings total capital committed to over €100 million, supported by a mix of institutional investors, corporates, and family offices. New LPs include BBVA Spark, one of the founding families of Mahou (Spain’s largest brewery), the family office of Javier de Jaime, Managing Partner at CVC, and José de Mello Capital, the holding company of Portugal’s leading family-owned business group. Long-standing partners such as CDTI Innvierte, the European Investment Fund, and several founders from Kibo Ventures’ portfolio have also renewed their support.

With this fund, Kibo Ventures further consolidates its technology investment platform, surpassing €500 million in assets under management.

Amid increasing competition from global multi-strategy funds entering Europe, Kibo Ventures strengthens its positioning as a high-conviction boutique alternative, prioritising proximity, agility, and a founder-first approach.

Fund IV will lead early-stage rounds with investments of around €5 million, while reserving 40% of the fund for follow-on rounds.

Spanish roots with a European vision

While rooted in Spain, Kibo Ventures has steadily expanded its presence across Europe over the past decade. Fund IV reinforces this pan-European strategy, supporting founders from seed to Series A who are building transformative companies in deep tech, data, AI infrastructure, cybersecurity, robotics, physical AI, and vertical applications, including sectors such as defence and space.

Kibo Ventures’ pan-European portfolio includes investments across major technology hubs such as Madrid, Barcelona, Berlin, Hamburg, Paris, London, and Lisbon.

First investments from Fund IV already completed

Kibo Ventures Fund IV has already completed two investments that reflect its deep-tech and AI-focused approach:

  • Theker – A robotics company developing autonomous robots capable of operating in highly complex industrial environments through a proprietary deep-learning-based vision and control platform. Kibo Ventures led its $21 million round, one of the largest seed rounds in robotics in Europe.
  • AnyFormat – An AI-driven document infrastructure platform based on generative AI and agent-based systems, founded by former engineers from Clarity.ai (a Fund II portfolio company). The platform enables large corporations to convert complex documents into structured data ready for analytics, BI, and automation.

Team strengthening and technology focus

To address new opportunities and strengthen the bridge between Europe and Silicon Valley, Kibo Ventures has appointed Sunir Kapoor as Chairman. An entrepreneur, corporate executive, and investor with extensive experience across both ecosystems, Sunir will support Kibo Ventures’ portfolio companies in their international expansion—particularly into the U.S.—and help enhance exit options, corporate partnerships, and global deal flow. His experience on public and private boards will further expand the value Kibo Ventures delivers to founding teams.

The firm is also expanding its investment team with new hires across Europe’s main tech hubs and has promoted Covadonga García-Valdés to Principal, further reinforcing its pan-European platform.

In parallel, Kibo Ventures is developing proprietary software and AI-based systems to automate key parts of its investment process—from opportunity sourcing to early pattern detection—creating a scalable, data-driven approach to identifying Europe’s best founders.
