Clifford Chance has advised German export and project finance specialist KfW IPEX-Bank on the USD 100 million bridge financing for the investment in four energy transmission projects located in Chile, in particular the transmission lines Nueva Nirivilo-Constitución and Don Goyo-La Ruca as well as the transmission equipment projects Nuevo Equipo de Compensación Reactiva and Substation El Ruil.
The borrower is a Chilean subsidiary of Celeo, a Madrid-based company that develops, invests in and manages energy infrastructure assets. The underlying projects will increase the capacity and stability of the Chilean transmission line grid to conduct the increasing load of renewable energy.
The Clifford Chance team was led by Global Financial Markets partner Eugenio Fernández-Rico, supported by associates María González and Sofía Riaño. Chilean law firm Carey advised in relation to the Chilean law aspects of the transaction.
