Nine projects from Vigo and its surrounding area, three from Pontevedra, one from Lugo, one from Ourense, and one from Boiro are the 15 business initiatives that will participate starting in September in the eighth edition of ViaGalicia, the accelerator promoted by the Zona Franca de Vigo and Igape, which has established itself as one of the most prominent in Spain. The selection by the Technical Committee was announced this Thursday after the DemoDay held in Porto do Molle, where 22 teams publicly presented their proposals out of the 108 initiatives initially submitted to the various selection phases.
In this 8th edition, the fifteen selected projects are:
From the surrounding area:
Three other projects come from Pontevedra:
From Ourense comes Luxsit, a drone light show proposal, and from Lugo, ProA2 Health, focused on an infant formula developed from A2 milk, which is more digestible and less allergenic. Completing the list of selected projects for this 8th edition of ViaGalicia is Orixe Salgada, from Boiro, which uses washed-up seaweed as a raw material for creating micronized and nanoparticle products.
David Regades, State Delegate in the Zona Franca de Vigo, congratulated the 15 business initiatives that made it into the accelerator, "and all the entrepreneurs—up to 108 teams—who have gone through ViaGalicia in recent months to get to this point. All of them," he said, "have demonstrated attitude, capability, and a great deal of talent, and they all encourage us to remain optimistic about a generation that will bring us many successes." Regarding ViaGalicia, Regades highlighted "the impressive figures over the years, with more than 1,500 business initiatives analyzed, confirming the accelerator as a model of support for entrepreneurship across the country."
Covadonga Toca, Director General of Igape, extended her congratulations to the 15 selected initiatives and highlighted the talent, commitment, and capacity of all the participating teams. She also emphasized the Xunta's strong commitment to innovative entrepreneurship through its accelerator network, present throughout the region, and made possible through institutional collaboration between Igape and the Zona Franca. "ViaGalicia is a well-established example of how institutional cooperation supports entrepreneurs during key phases of their projects, helping them turn viable ideas into solid companies that generate employment, innovation, and a better future."
From now on, these projects—representing different productive sectors—will have access to mentors who will assist them in the administrative steps they must complete before the acceleration program begins, such as incorporating as companies and fine-tuning their proposals. Starting in September, at ViaGalicia's facilities in Porto do Molle, they will embark on their journey to become viable businesses.
The data from the seven editions of ViaGalicia to date—this tool that supports entrepreneurs in turning business ideas into real companies—show the accelerator's strength and success: it has helped define business models for over 200 projects, resulting in 57 startups that, in the last year alone, exceeded €45 million in revenue and closed funding rounds worth €70 million, creating more than 500 high-skilled jobs.
