Sodena strengthens its commitment to sustainability through Green Assist

Sodena, the public company of the Government of Navarra, has been selected to collaborate with Green Assist, a European initiative that provides free specialized technical assistance to integrate environmental sustainability into public investment organizations.

Over the next twelve months, Sodena will benefit from personalized advice from Ricardo Consulting, the firm selected and funded by CINEA (European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency), to advance decisively in its transformation into a leading public company in responsible investment, sustainability, circular economy, and environmental performance.

Since 2022, Sodena has had a Responsible Investment Policy aimed at aligning its financial flows and strategic goals with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This project will allow Sodena to continue progressing in the integration of the SDGs, specifically by strengthening its environmental and climate action strategy across all activities and the entire organization, through five main areas of work:

This process not only updates the internal strategy of the public company but, with the advice of Green Assist, also aims to position Sodena as a reference model in financial support, investment attraction—through Invest in Navarra—and activities related to S4 Navarra, through an environmental lens, fostering sustainable business development and leadership in the circular economy both within and beyond Spain.

With this partnership, Sodena reinforces its role as a driver of a greener, more resilient, and future-ready economy in Navarra.

Design of an environmental strategy that complements and updates the existing one. This plan will revise how the public company integrates the environmental perspective into all its activities, from project evaluation and funding decisions to project follow-up.

Incorporating the ecological approach into daily operations, by training its team and including environmental criteria in areas such as Invest in Navarra—which attracts investment from outside Navarra—and Regional Strategy, which coordinates the design and implementation of Navarra's Smart Specialization Strategy (S4 Navarra) and supports business clusters.

Development of green screening tools, to better assess the sustainability of supported projects and companies, evaluate the environmental impact of the initiatives, and identify risks and opportunities.

Leadership in circular economy and biodiversity: As coordinator of the public-private initiative Navarra Zirkular, Sodena will receive support to refine its services, with particular focus on circular business models for water resilience and natural restoration.

Promotion of effective communication, ensuring that companies, investors, and other stakeholders are aware of Sodena’s comprehensive sustainability strategy.
