The Council of Ministers has authorized the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Administration , through the Spanish Society for Technological Transformation (SETT), to make an investment of 24.9 million euros in the Canary Islands animation company Ánima Kitchent with the aim of consolidating international investment, industrial capabilities and creative talent in the Spanish audiovisual sector .

The operation will strengthen the national audiovisual ecosystem in the field of animation through this Spanish production company, enabling it to develop and produce high-quality original feature film projects and generating long-term value through intellectual property. It also fosters the development of a leader in the Spanish animation industry and the multiplatform distribution of its catalog of original content with international potential for family audiences.

The operation, which is being carried out under SETT's public-private partnership strategy , has the private backing of DNEG , a company belonging to the Prime Focus Group , a leader in special effects and animation with studios worldwide and more than 9,000 employees, as well as eight Academy Awards and other accolades such as the Emmy and BAFTA . The operation will be carried out in collaboration with ReDefine Originals , also part of the DNEG group, an animation studio and creative incubator dedicated to the development, financing, and global commercial exploitation of high-quality computer-animated (CG) content .

Ánima Kitchent, founded in 2014 and based in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria since 2016, is one of the leading animation studios in the Canary Islands . It boasts extensive experience in the creation, production, distribution, and marketing of children's entertainment , as well as a strong presence on digital and streaming platforms . Furthermore, it promotes training, professional development, and knowledge transfer through master's programs in 2D and 3D animation .

The aim is to contribute to strengthening the national audiovisual economic and creative fabric, while also generating high-value employment. Thus, the creation of 275 direct jobs and 550 indirect jobs is expected over the next five years . SETT's public investment will help reinforce Ánima Kitchent's technological resources , reducing time and energy consumption, while also improving the company's infrastructure and connectivity.

This operation is part of the second phase of the Spain Audiovisual Hub Plan , an initiative that is part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, and financed by the European Union – Next Generation funds – and is led by the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Function, through the State Secretariat for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence (SEDIA) .

Alongside the Spain Audiovisual Hub , SETT manages two more financial instruments to boost the technological business ecosystem: PERTE Chip , dedicated to microelectronics and semiconductors, and Next Tech , which encourages private investment and improves access to financing in strategic Spanish sectors linked to digital transformation.
