Olavide Neuron STX (ONESTX), a biotech company specialized in the development of treatments for neurodegenerative diseases, has received an investment of €100,000 from Eoniq.fund. This financial support will help the company continue its research focused on the modulation of neurosteroids—an emerging approach for addressing conditions such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and Huntington’s disease.

Founded in 2020 as a spin-off of the University Pablo de Olavide, ONESTX has identified an innovative mechanism that, by increasing the levels of specific neurosteroids that decline with age, improves memory and extends lifespan in animal models such as C. elegans and aged mice. These findings have shown significant cognitive improvements in models of neurodegenerative disorders, opening up new therapeutic possibilities.

ONESTX is led by Dr. Ángel Cebolla, CEO with over two decades of experience in the biotech sector, and Dr. Manuel Muñoz, CSO and professor at the University Pablo de Olavide, an expert in genetics and longevity. Recently, the company secured new public-private research funding from the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, reinforcing its efforts in Huntington’s disease research, which builds on a previously awarded Alzheimer’s-focused project.

With this investment, Eoniq.fund reinforces its commitment to supporting tech startups that combine cutting-edge scientific research with high social impact. ONESTX represents a strong bet on innovative solutions for diseases affecting millions of people worldwide.
