CDTI Innovación, through its Innvierte initiative, has committed an investment of up to €73.5 million in KIBO VENTURES FUND IV INNVIERTE, F.C.R.E., a fund managed by KIBO VENTURES PARTNERS, SGEIC, S.A.
This new vehicle will focus primarily on DeepTech businesses, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, robotics and advanced engineering, the future of computing, and other disruptive technologies. It will also target companies addressing environmental and social impact, such as climate tech, clean mobility and logistics, financial and social empowerment, and education.
The fund will invest mainly in pre-Series A and Series A rounds of software companies with differentiated technologies, led by teams with the ambition and capability to scale globally.
Kibo Ventures is an investment management firm founded in 2012 in Madrid with the mission to empower diverse European tech entrepreneurs to solve major global challenges and help them scale.
The firm’s team—comprising investment and operations experts with strong international networks across Europe and the U.S.—is deeply committed to impact and diversity. They believe in creating positive global impact while achieving strong financial returns.
Kibo Ventures has invested in early stages in some of Spain’s leading startups, including Flywire (Nasdaq IPO), Devo, JobandTalent, Vilynx (acquired by Apple), and Onum (acquired by CrowdStrike).
Innvierte is an initiative designed to promote business innovation by supporting venture capital investment in technology-based or innovative companies. The program operates through Innvierte Economía Sostenible SICC S.M.E., S.A., a self-managed closed-end collective investment company supervised by the Spanish National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) and wholly owned by CDTI Innovación.
To date, CDTI Innovación has committed €2.847 billion across 63 investment vehicles that have financed more than 632 companies. Through its co-investment line, CDTI has directly committed an additional €726 million in 191 companies.
Innvierte is part of the Spanish Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy 2021–2027, approved by the Council of Ministers in September 2020. This strategy outlines the objectives, reforms, and measures to be adopted across Spain’s R&D&I ecosystem to boost its growth and impact, forming one of the pillars of the Government’s innovation policy in the coming years.
The Centre for the Development of Technology and Innovation (CDTI E.P.E.) is the innovation agency of Spain’s Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, whose mission is to promote technological innovation in the business sector. CDTI’s goal is to ensure that Spanish companies generate and transform scientific and technical knowledge into globally competitive, sustainable, and inclusive growth.
In 2024, under a new strategic plan, CDTI provided more than €2.3 billion in funding to Spanish companies and startups.
