SICC Innvierte, part of CDTI Innovación, has partnered with Mondragón Fondo de Promoción FCR to invest in ROBOPEDICS for the development of a robotic orthopedic solution for stroke patients.
Stroke is the third leading cause of disability worldwide. One of its most severe and common consequences is the inability to walk. Between 20% and 25% of all stroke survivors are unable to walk without full physical assistance and never regain functional mobility. They require wheelchairs for life, suffering the associated health issues and social and emotional disorders.
BIONIC MOBILITY SOLUTIONS, S.L. (ROBOPEDICS) aims to improve the quality of life and health of these individuals. While full rehabilitation is often unattainable, ROBOPEDICS' technological solution allows them to stand and walk again. This helps alleviate numerous health issues and disorders associated with long-term wheelchair use and empowers them to regain independence.
The company’s goal is to develop both the technology and the necessary conditions to enable patients to walk daily, unsupervised, in their own environments—offering a real alternative to wheelchairs and restoring joy and hope to them and their loved ones.
CDTI Innovación, through Innvierte, has completed an investment round in the company alongside Mondragón Fondo de Promoción, FCR, contributing €135,000 as part of a total committed investment of €540,000.
ROBOPEDICS has a senior team of founders and advisors with extensive experience in leadership roles in multinational companies and some of Spain’s leading hospitals. The team is complemented by young, skilled, and motivated professionals, along with top-tier strategic partners including:
ROBOPEDICS has developed a unique technology called AWAKE, designed specifically for individuals with paralysis or weakness on one side of the body due to a stroke. Unlike traditional exoskeletons—originally developed for spinal cord injuries and which require robotic support on both legs—AWAKE only robots the affected leg, enabling the user to walk. This represents a revolutionary advancement in mobility solutions for stroke patients.
This fund, managed by Clave Capital, is focused on investing in technology-based companies in areas of interest to the over 100 cooperatives of the Mondragón Group (industry, automotive, B2B solutions, health, etc.).
