The Board of Directors of CDTI Innovación, a public business entity attached to the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, has approved 109 new R&D&I projects with a total budget of €74.18 million, of which CDTI Innovación will contribute €57.64 million, including a non-repayable grant component of €9.76 million. All approved operations correspond to loan-based financing schemes.

A total of 107 companies are involved in these projects, of which 35 are receiving CDTI Innovación funding for the first time and 75 are SMEs. These companies employ 358 people dedicated to the objectives of the approved initiatives.

Breakdown by project type

  • R&D projects: 73 projects — €38.27m CDTI contribution / €48.50m total (79%)
  • Direct Expansion Line: 14 projects — €7.43m / €9.99m (74%)
  • Direct Innovation Line: 5 projects — €4.40m / €5.64m (78%)
  • Dual R&D projects: 3 projects — €1.49m / €2.06m (73%)
  • Cervera Network R&D projects: 14 projects — €6.05m / €7.99m (76%)

European co-financed operations

Of the 109 approved operations, 42 are co-financed under the Multiannual Operational Programme for Spain (POPE) 2021–2027, and 4 are co-financed through the Recovery and Resilience Facility (MRR).

POPE 2021–2027 co-financed projects (April 2026 approvals)

These projects benefit from public co-financing from CDTI Innovación and POPE, enabling a non-repayable tranche of up to 30%, regardless of company size.

MRR co-financed projects (April 2026 approvals)

MRR co-financing allows CDTI Innovación to provide a non-repayable tranche of up to 33% under the ISCIII–CDTI initiative (TransMisiones 2023).

Regional distribution of approved aid

The 109 approved operations are distributed across Spain as follows:

  • Catalonia: 31 operations
  • Madrid: 19 operations
  • Community of Valencia: 13 operations
  • Andalusia: 11 operations
  • Galicia: 8 operations
  • Remaining regions include Aragón, Cantabria, Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha, Extremadura, Murcia, Navarra, Basque Country, La Rioja, Canary Islands and Balearic Islands.
