ARPA Abogados Consultores has advised Grupo APEX in the acquisition of the company Chávez y Clark, S.L.U. (Supermex), a firm specializing in the manufacture and distribution of corn and wheat tortillas, headquartered in El Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz).
This transaction brings a new production plant into the Grupo APEX fold, which already operates twelve manufacturing sites across Spain. The acquisition strengthens the Group’s industrial presence in the south of the country and allows it to diversify its product range into booming categories within the food sector, such as corn tortillas.
Founded more than twenty‑five years ago by the American Stockwell family, Supermex specializes in the production and distribution of tortilla chips, sauces, and seasonings, and is “a pioneer in the preparation of tortillas using the traditional Aztec nixtamalization method.” “This artisanal approach has made it possible to create high‑quality products at a competitive price and to establish the brand both in the domestic market and in several European countries,” emphasized Grupo APEX.
Supermex’s facilities include 1,300 square meters dedicated to production and a 1,000‑square‑meter finished‑goods warehouse. The company currently employs 36 people, and its turnover in 2024 was €5.34 million, with projections to reach €6 million in sales in 2025.
