XRF has been selected as part of the first cohort of companies to join the EUDIS Business Accelerator, a new acceleration programme driven by the European Commission and made up of 20 pioneering defence-sector startups. The tech company, a trailblazer in the use of Extended Reality (XR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for decision-making in complex environments, is the only Spanish startup chosen among 400 applications from across Europe.
The Business Accelerator is part of the EU Defence Innovation Scheme (EUDIS), a flagship initiative of the European Defence Fund (EDF) aimed at fostering defence innovation and supporting the growth and financing of startups and SMEs across the EU and Norway. The selected companies are among the most disruptive in the sector, recognised for their strategic relevance and alignment with the EU’s defence innovation priorities.
This recognition marks a strategic milestone for the company, founded in the Canary Islands, establishing it as a European leader in AI and emerging technologies for defence and security. XRF will represent Spain alongside startups from 10 other countries, including Germany, Latvia, Norway, Estonia, Luxembourg, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Lithuania, and Belgium.
XRF will benefit from personalised support provided by the European Commission, including expert mentoring, specialised training, and access to strategic resources to enhance its market readiness. The eight-month acceleration programme will kick off on June 16 at the Paris Air Show, featuring six immersive bootcamps held alongside major European defence events, expert workshops, networking opportunities with startups, investors, and European Ministries of Defence, and access to operational testing facilities.
XRF joins NATO working group on military planning with extended reality
XRF is one of the few Spanish companies focused on developing new technologies for distributed command and control centres in military operations. Its tools enhance mission planning and military preparedness through immersive training scenarios in virtual environments.
As part of its commitment to delivering real impact in supporting armed forces, the startup is also a member of a NATO working group designing virtual reality tools for planning, analysis, and distributed exploitation of 3D geospatial data.
Additionally, the NATO Innovation Fund (NIF) has recognised XRF as an innovator in the field of knowledge, awareness, and decision-making (Situational Awareness). In 2024, the Atlantic Alliance selected XRF as one of the Top Ten Innovators from over 500 projects in the Coalition Warrior Interoperability Exercise (CWIX).
Today, XRF employs a team of 37 professionals, with offices in Madrid, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and Miami, and has developed projects for the Spanish Ministry of Defence, the Army, and the Navy.
