Tolemy Bio has announced the closing of a €1.4 million pre-seed funding round backed by Big Sur Ventures, alongside Norrsken Evolve, JME Ventures, Masia, Redbus Ventures David Ola, Marcel Hedman, Simon Franks, Amar Shah, and other angel investors.
The company is building Orbit, an AI-native software platform designed to help scientists understand, predict, and direct cellular systems. Tolemy Bio’s mission is to create the infrastructure layer that connects experimental data, AI models, and scientific workflows to make cell biology more interpretable, optimizable, and actionable.
While the biopharma industry continues to generate enormous volumes of experimental data, much of it still fails to translate into reusable intelligence. Tolemy Bio aims to solve this challenge by developing tools adapted to the way scientists conduct experiments today.
“Orbit is the control panel for the cell,” the company stated. “The platform is built by scientists, for scientists, because existing tools are not keeping pace with modern scientific experimentation.”
The company is initially focused on cell therapy and biomanufacturing, where improving control over cell behavior can directly impact product reliability, quality, cost efficiency, and access to advanced medicines.
The funding will enable Tolemy Bio to accelerate the development of Orbit, deepen customer relationships, and expand its team across biology, artificial intelligence, software, data infrastructure, product development, and real-world experimentation.
Big Sur Ventures highlighted the transformative potential of Tolemy Bio’s approach at a time when the convergence of biology and artificial intelligence is reshaping the future of biotechnology and advanced medicine.
The company also expressed its gratitude to all investors and supporters who have contributed to the Tolemy journey since its inception.
