The ‘TOP Capital’ investment forum has evolved into a highly effective investment accelerator, enabling 78 agreements between business angels and seed-stage entrepreneurs with innovative, high-potential, technology-driven projects aimed at international markets.
TOP Capital is a meeting point between business angels and entrepreneurs with scalable projects, organized by Murcia-Ban, the investors’ network of the Region of Murcia, with the goal of facilitating real transactions. Across its 21 editions, it has showcased 112 entrepreneurial projects with strong potential to 525 investors focused on seed-stage startups. These investors attended the different editions of the event, resulting in a 70% success rate in agreements.
The forum acts as a strategic bridge to boost high-impact early-stage investment. “Having business angels who invest in scalable entrepreneurs means accessing early capital, experience, and contacts that accelerate growth. This allows projects to move faster, make better decisions, and reach the market sooner,” said Joaquín Gómez, Director of the Instituto de Fomento.
At this year’s 21st TOP Capital Forum, five seed-stage projects with high growth potential were presented. The products and services showcased were required to be innovative and to use advanced technologies. On this occasion, they focused on the digitalization of the real estate, agricultural, and livestock sectors, as well as Smart City applications and accessibility solutions for people with disabilities.
As a local success case and a source of inspiration for startups—and to strengthen business angels’ confidence in the Murcian ecosystem—Murcia-Ban introduced NZI Helmets, a motorcycle helmet manufacturer from Yecla founded in 1983, led by CEO Nazario Ibáñez Ortín. NZI is positioned as one of the global leaders in its sector, with 50% of its business coming from international markets, and stands as a successful model on BME Growth, the Spanish stock market segment for small and medium-sized enterprises.
To explain how and when the decision to go public was made, the event featured Miguel Ángel García-Ramos, CFA, PhD, strategic financial advisor and head of investor relations at NZI. García-Ramos shared with attendees the challenges, process, and key factors behind NZI’s IPO.
His participation attracted an audience that extended beyond the usual business angels, bringing together representatives from the economic and social spheres of the Region of Murcia, including public and private entities, and both traditional and technology companies that form part of the board and assembly of the European Center for Business and Innovation of Murcia (CEEIM).
The 21st edition of TOP Capital was organized within the framework of the UPAi 2025 Project, financed with European Union FEDER funds, through support from the Instituto de Fomento of the Region of Murcia and the Valencian Government, aimed at fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.
