The Spanish Society for Technological Transformation, a State-Owned Public Entity (SETT) under the Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Civil Service, has announced an extension of the deadline to apply for media loans worth €19.5 million.

The Government, through the Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Civil Service, launched this call last July, open to all media outlets, as part of the Action Plan for Democracy, aimed at strengthening transparency, pluralism, and the right to information, which was approved by the Spanish Government last September.

This is a call under the Media Digitalization Aid Plan, aimed at media outlets wishing to develop digitalization and co-official language projects, in this instance through loans managed by SETT.

The call, whose application deadline has been extended until December 31, 2025, is framed within the Action Plan for Democracy, specifically as part of measure 2.4.4, which promotes the launch of a grant program with €124.5 million to foster the digitalization of media through the creation of databases, the development of tools to improve productivity and journalistic quality, as well as strengthening cybersecurity.

Applications for the currently available €19.5 million in media aid can be submitted via the Spanish Society for Technological Transformation’s website and the General Electronic Registry portal.

SETT manages this public investment through the Spain Audiovisual Hub fund, which drives digitalization in the audiovisual sector and strengthens this industry along with others linked to digital culture and multimedia and interactive content. The Spanish Society for Technological Transformation also manages two other funds: Next Tech, which aims to incentivize private investment and improve access to financing in strategic Spanish sectors linked to the digital transition, and PERTE Chip, dedicated to microelectronics and semiconductors.
