The Investor Day of ViaGalicia marked the closing of its eighth edition, bringing together 14 new business projects across different sectors, all of them sharing innovation as a common trait.
These new startups have been added to the success story of ViaGalicia, the accelerator promoted by the Vigo Free Zone Consortium and the Xunta de Galicia. Over the past 13 years, the programme has supported up to 92 startups, which have now become 106 active companies.
“There is no better proof of ViaGalicia’s success than its figures,” said State Delegate David Regades, who also highlighted that “in an environment where studies say only 10% of projects become long-term companies, ViaGalicia achieves a 54% survival rate.”
He also emphasized that in the last year, startups supported by the accelerator have surpassed €45 million in turnover, raised €70 million in funding rounds, and created more than 700 highly qualified jobs—figures that consolidate ViaGalicia as a benchmark in promoting innovative entrepreneurship.
The statements were made during ViaGalicia’s Investor Day, the closing event of the eighth edition of the accelerator, held at the Zona Franca headquarters and framed within the “The Way” event. Rosa Méndez, Director of Innovation at IGAPE, also highlighted the role of programmes such as ViaGalicia and the Galician network of Business Factories in consolidating Galicia as an increasingly mature, connected, and competitive innovation ecosystem. She stressed that the main challenge of this new phase is to “industrialize innovation,” helping more startups turn ideas into companies capable of scaling, attracting investment, and generating real impact.
The Investor Day marked the culmination of a 12-month programme of training and mentoring for the 14 participating projects, which presented their innovative proposals to a panel of investors, venture capital funds, and potential industrial partners, aiming to gain visibility and access new funding opportunities to scale their growth.
In this eighth edition, entrepreneurs with innovative, investable, and scalable business ideas benefited from a comprehensive one-year support programme, allowing them to mature their proposals and develop their full potential under conditions designed for success.
Financial support also stands out. Participating startups receive a €25,000 non-repayable grant to support their early stages, along with access to a €1.5 million fund for the most investable and high-potential startups, aimed at supporting their growth and scalability. This fund is managed through the venture capital firms Vigo Activo (Zona Franca) and XesGalicia (Xunta), the programme’s promoters.
