Regen Aluminum, located in York, Pennsylvania, is a company with an established track record in the recovery of secondary aluminium. With a turnover of close to 20 million dollars in 2024, the company manufactures aluminium ingots from metal waste (mainly vehicle tyres) for smelters operating in such demanding sectors as aerospace, electrical, marine, plumbing and automotive. Its high-purity products stand out for their reduced environmental impact: the production process reduces the carbon footprint by more than 90% compared to primary aluminium. Furthermore, it helps Fagor Ederlan's products to be compatible with the local content standards of the North American Free Trade Agreement (USMCA).

As part of this new stage, the company will be renamed Fagor Regen Aluminum, reflecting its integration into the Fagor Ederlan group and its shared commitment to sustainability, innovation and local development.

The operation was formalised with an institutional visit to the York facilities on 2 June, in which Jon Zuazo, Managing Director of the Fagor Ederlan Group, and Mikel Uribetxebarria, Chairman of the Group's Board of Directors, took part. During the day, the representatives of Fagor Ederlan were able to tour the facilities, meet the Fagor Regen Aluminum team first hand and meet Lorne Kalisky, the main shareholder of the Canadian company RegenRecycling, a strategic partner in this new phase.

Jon Zuazo, CEO of Fagor Ederlan Group, said that ‘this acquisition is a key step in our strategy of integrating sustainable solutions throughout the value chain. It allows us to strengthen the traceability of recycled material, improve service to our customers in North America and consolidate a business model committed to the environment. In a global context that demands a profound transformation towards sustainability, this operation reinforces our industrial capacity and our responsibility as a relevant player in the sector’.

Fagor Ederlan is a leading manufacturer of components for the automotive sector. With more than 60 years of experience, the MONDRAGON co-operative specialises in the production of key parts for the chassis system (braking and suspension), the powertrain and other structural components of the vehicle. In 2024 it had sales of 570 million euros with a workforce of 3,400 people.

Its customers include the world's leading car manufacturers, enabling it to work closely with them to tackle the major challenges posed by the current transformation of the sector. Fagor Ederlan is firmly committed to being close to the market, offering its customers the components they need, wherever they need them. For this reason, it has production plants strategically distributed in Europe, China, South America and North America.

The Fagor Ederlan Group has particularly valued the human team and the technical experience of Fagor Regen Aluminum, ‘key elements’ to guarantee a smooth transition and sustained growth. ‘This operation lays the foundations for future industrial and technological collaborations, with the aim of accelerating the ecological transition of foundry processes both in North America and in the rest of the markets where the group operates’, they add.
