The Department of Economy and Finance of Castilla y Leon's regional government, through the Institute for Business Competitiveness (ICECYL), has launched the 27th edition of Wolaria, the public startup accelerator that has consolidated its position as a national benchmark in driving innovative entrepreneurship. In this new call, 57 applications were received, of which 12 high-growth potential projects have been selected to begin their acceleration process at the specialized campus.
Wolaria offers entrepreneurs an environment of training, mentoring, and personalized support, backed by a broad network of professionals, strategic alliances, and both public and private resources. The program, completely free of charge, includes workshops in key areas such as strategy, sustainability, digital marketing, sales, legal and financial aspects, in addition to funding rounds with investors and access to technological infrastructures.
As a novelty in this edition, the acceleration campus has obtained the ISO 9001:2015 certification, which validates its commitment to quality in the training and services provided. This accreditation strengthens Wolaria’s mission of transforming entrepreneurial ideas into successful companies, contributing to the economic and social development of Castilla y León.
Since its first edition in 2012, Wolaria has accelerated 303 projects, created 1,213 jobs, and facilitated more than €65 million in investment, with a 78% business survival rate after three years. The funding obtained amounts to €51.64 million.
Its impact on the entrepreneurial ecosystem of Castilla y León has already become a national benchmark. Wolaria continues to position itself as a driving force for innovation and competitiveness. A pioneer in public acceleration, Wolaria ranks among the top 100 in the Financial Times 2025 ranking of 4,000 European startup accelerators (hubs), specifically 80th in Europe, 6th in Spain, and in the top 5 of the Funcas 2025 report.
In addition, the regional government is promoting nine vertical accelerators following Wolaria’s same working methodology, focused on strategic sectors, one in each province, operating as a network: the Ávila accelerator will develop emerging projects in culture and heritage; Burgos, in green energy projects; León, in aerospace; Palencia, in agri-food projects; Salamanca, in biotechnology, video games and digital animation; Segovia, in emerging projects in tourism, culture and heritage; Soria, in the development of natural resources; Valladolid, in sports-related startups; and Zamora, in the care economy.
In this process, ICECYL provides startups with a wide range of public and private resources, as well as the collaboration of key players in the regional innovation ecosystem, such as universities, technology centers, and major corporations from Castilla y León.
