Telefónica has strengthened its investment arm in Brazil with an expansion of 150 million reais (about €24 million) for its fund Vivo Ventures. This injection aims to boost support for innovative companies in strategic sectors such as artificial intelligence, finance, health, and energy.
Following this increase, the fund reaches a total capital of 470 million reais (€75 million), representing a 50% growth from the initial 320 million with which it was originally launched.
Regarding the relevance of this strategy, the Vice President of Innovation and New Business at Vivo, Rodrigo Gruner, emphasized:
“Vivo Ventures is a reference in the venture capital market, not only because of its portfolio of companies invested in the last three years, but also because of the added value that these investments provide to Vivo by contributing to the development of services and products in areas that go beyond telecommunications.”
The operator seeks to translate these investments into tangible alliances. Currently, of the 14 operations carried out since 2022 (with an investment of 230 million reais), seven of these startups already have current contracts with Vivo and another three are negotiating agreements to become commercial partners
