StepStone Group (Nasdaq: STEP), a leading global private markets investment firm, and Alter Domus, a leading provider of integrated fund and corporate services for the alternative investment industry, have announced a partnership to structure and launch SCP Spain, a product range comprising StepStone Capital Partners Spain, FCR, and StepStone Capital Partners Iberia, SCR, S.A., designed to bring global private equity co-investment opportunities to the Spanish market.

SCP Spain will offer direct access to co-investment opportunities alongside experienced global managers selected by StepStone, enabling investors in Spain to efficiently access a diversified portfolio of approximately 50 private equity transactions, primarily in the United States and Europe.

This collaboration combines StepStone’s extensive co-investment expertise—supported by a track record of over 130 fund strategy investments alongside more than 80 managers (“GPs”)—with Alter Domus Spain’s fund administration capabilities, ensuring an efficient pathway for Spanish investors to access the global private equity market.

“The arrival of cross-border projects in Europe is accelerating, but the need to navigate different regulatory frameworks, reporting requirements, and governance structures is where complexity can slow momentum. Our goal is to support investors throughout the onboarding and servicing process—facilitating access for established managers to private markets in Spain so they can focus on what they do best,” said Oscar García, Head of Spain at Alter Domus.

Key competitive advantages of the strategy include:

  • Proactive origination and disciplined selectivity: StepStone’s investment team maintains an active and systematic dialogue with GPs through its global network, evaluating more than 365 co-investment opportunities with over 245 GPs in the past twelve months. A multi-stage selection process ensures that portfolio construction reflects only the highest-conviction investment decisions.
  • Proprietary data advantage: “SPI by StepStone” provides institutional-grade market intelligence covering more than 135,000 portfolio companies, over 51,000 funds, and more than 19,000 GPs. This proprietary data infrastructure underpins StepStone’s ability to conduct thorough and informed analysis and underwriting of each transaction.
  • Integrated global platform: With a presence in 31 offices worldwide under a unified team structure, StepStone combines global market insight with regional specialization. The firm is one of the largest independent allocators of primary capital globally and has approved more than $60 billion in commitments to buyout funds across over 210 funds in the past three years.

“With SCP Spain, we aim to broaden access to private markets by offering flexible, transparent, and cost-efficient solutions. Our origination discipline, proprietary data advantage, and global platform are key differentiators; but equally important is the experience and stability of our team—with an average of 17 years of investment experience—and our differentiated due diligence process, which combines deep GP knowledge with an extensive reference network. We are excited to bring these capabilities to Spanish investors through SCP Spain,” said Panos Tegos, Partner at StepStone and portfolio manager of SCP Spain.
