Axon Partners Group, Tresmares Capital, Sabadell Venture Capital, Inveready, Advent International, Oakley Capital, Suma Capital, Seed Capital Bizkaia and Carlos Lavilla have been named the winners of the 19th Edition of the Spain Private Equity Awards, organised by SpainCap, Deloitte and IESE Business School. The awards recognise the contribution of the Venture Capital and Private Equity industry to strengthening Spain's SME ecosystem and driving business growth.
Enrique Tombas, Chairman of SpainCap, Ana Torrens, Chair of Deloitte Spain, and Juan Roure, Professor at IESE Business School, welcomed attendees before the awards ceremony.
Enrique Tombas, Chairman of SpainCap, said: "These awards reflect the strategic role of the Venture Capital and Private Equity industry in strengthening and transforming Spain's business fabric. In an increasingly demanding global environment, private capital acts as a catalyst for growth, driving innovation, international expansion and the competitiveness of our companies. In this process, public-private collaboration is essential to mobilise resources efficiently towards the productive economy, build investor confidence and maximise economic and social impact. Likewise, the participation of institutional investors, such as pension funds, enables long-term savings to be channelled into strong businesses, contributing both to sustainable value creation and to the future wellbeing of citizens. Cooperation between public authorities, investors and companies is undoubtedly key to building a more resilient, dynamic and competitive economy."
Gerardo Yagüe, Transactions Leader at Deloitte, said: "Private Capital has established itself as the main driver of the M&A market at a time when companies need to transform their business models to remain competitive in an increasingly complex environment. Geopolitical uncertainty, trade tensions and the fragmentation of the global economy have led both investors and companies to incorporate these risks into their decision-making processes, favouring more selective transactions supported by a clear strategic rationale. Against this backdrop, the rise of transformational M&A is reinforcing the role of Private Capital which, thanks to its investment capacity and long-term perspective, is driving transactions that strengthen corporate competitiveness and create sustainable value."
Laura Caballero, Associate Director of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center at IESE Business School, commented: "2025 has been a year marked by greater professionalisation, collaboration and technical sophistication in seed-stage investing, with co-investment models and disciplined investment practices reinforcing the role of private capital as a key driver of early-stage companies. In an increasingly complex environment, continuous investor education and the integration of artificial intelligence into investment analysis and opportunity management have become essential factors for making better investment decisions and providing greater value to entrepreneurs. More than ever, investors contribute not only capital, but also expertise, networks and the ability to activate the entrepreneurial ecosystem, fostering the development of companies that will shape the future of business. At IESE, we remain committed to developing investment and entrepreneurial talent as the foundation of a stronger and more competitive ecosystem."
The jury responsible for selecting the winners comprised a distinguished panel of industry experts: Juan Roure (Professor, IESE Business School), María José Osuna (Head of Private Equity, Casa Grande de Cartagena), José Martí Pellón (Professor of Financial Economics at the Complutense University of Madrid and founder of Webcapitalriesgo), Miguel Zurita (Managing Partner and Co-Chief Investment Officer, AltamarCAM Partners), Guillermo Jiménez (Chief Executive Officer, Axis), José Antonio Morales (Chief Investment Officer, Mutua Madrileña), José Luis García Muelas (Chief Investment Strategist, Loreto Inversiones), María Sanz (Head of Private Equity, Yielco), Ricardo Miró-Quesada (Partner and Head of Private Equity, Arcano), and Ana Arranz (Private Equity, European Investment Fund).
The awards recognise Spain-based Private Capital firms that are members of SpainCap and completed successful exits from portfolio companies between 1 April 2024 and 31 March 2025. The winning transactions were selected based on their financial returns for investors and the value created for portfolio companies, including revenue growth, job creation, international expansion and innovation.
