Sodena, the public company of the Government of Navarre, has successfully completed its divestment process in Nabrawind Technologies, a Navarre-based company specialized in innovative solutions for the wind energy sector which is joining the Australian company Fortescue. The transaction, carried out jointly with the founding team and initial investors, generated a positive return for Sodena, recovering three times the capital contributed since 2016.

Over the nine years of support, Sodena has accompanied Nabrawind through a consolidation process that enabled the company to grow from 12 to 53 employees, 18 of whom are women. Most of these positions are highly qualified jobs, especially in engineering, strengthening Navarre’s industrial and technological fabric.

At the time Sodena decided to support Nabrawind, the company had two solutions under development. Today, these technologies are already deployed in countries such as Namibia, France and China. Their acquisition by Australia’s Fortescue reinforces the company’s international expansion, facilitating its integration into large-scale global wind projects.

According to Iñaki Larraya, Managing Director of Sodena, “Nabrawind’s trajectory is a clear example of growth and value creation in a strategic sector for Navarre, particularly highlighting the company’s ability to carve out a space in a highly competitive international market within a context of geopolitical uncertainty. The public company also acknowledges the work of Nabrawind’s professional team, led by Eneko Sanz, who has successfully implemented innovative technological solutions that are now visible in wind farms from Africa to Australia.”

For his part, Eneko Sanz, CEO of Nabrawind, views the integration into Fortescue as “a unique opportunity to scale its technology globally, accelerating its contribution to the energy transition towards cleaner and more efficient energy under the umbrella of a global leader.”

Beyond its economic impact, Nabrawind’s solutions significantly contribute to the reduction of CO₂ emissions by enabling the installation of turbines at greater heights and in locations previously inaccessible or technically limited, thereby increasing the efficiency of wind farms.

With this divestment, Sodena reaffirms its commitment to supporting Navarrese companies in key stages of their development—whether launching, as in the case of this company now celebrating its 10th anniversary, scaling up, internationalizing, or contributing to the energy transition.
