Ovum SPF, a company specialized in the production of SPF eggs -specific pathogen free- for vaccine manufacturing, has received support from Sodena through the granting of a €900,000 guarantee, equivalent to 60% of the total financing subscribed by the company, amounting to €1.45 million. The reciprocal guarantee companies Elkargi and Sonagar, as well as Bankinter, also participated in this transaction.
This financing will allow Ovum SPF to complete the final phase of the commissioning of its plant located in Cascante, Navarra, where the company established itself to develop a highly specialized industrial activity linked to the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors.
Sodena, which is part of the company’s board of directors, has thus supported a strategic project due to its industrial, technological, and healthcare components, aimed at supplying essential biological products for vaccine manufacturing. Sodena’s support for Ovum SPF began in 2023, in a previous transaction in which reciprocal guarantee companies and banking institutions also participated.
During its first year of activity, Ovum SPF has worked on the development of its biological assets and on the implementation of the technical equipment necessary to guarantee the quality standards required by the pharmaceutical industry. During this period, the company has created 17 jobs, a figure it expects to increase to 25 by the end of 2026.
This May, the first biological products intended for vaccine manufacturing processes left the plant. The company is currently in the study and validation phase with various pharmaceutical companies, carrying out the necessary tests prior to large-scale manufacturing.
Ovum SPF is already working with companies in Spain, France, Italy, the United States, and South America. According to the planned schedule, 2027 will be the year in which the plant enters full production.
The investment made to date exceeds €8 million, of which less than 50% corresponds to financing from financial institutions, reflecting the commitment of the founding team and the institutional support for the development of this initiative.

The establishment of Ovum SPF in Cascante represents a significant step towards strengthening Navarra’s industrial and biotechnology ecosystem by incorporating a high value-added activity linked to the international supply chain of the vaccine industry.
