The 102nd Edition of mentorDay’s Acceleration Program Concludes with the Monthly Online Networking Event, DemoDay, on Thursday, October 2
This edition corresponds to the 4th edition of CiberEmprende, a program designed in collaboration with the National Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE), in which Riham Abadour emerged as the winner with her project Smart2Split.
As always, during DemoDay the top projects of the Acceleration Program pitched their proposals to a select jury from the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Pitch Combat format — fast one-minute rounds where each entrepreneur must present and defend their project.
The big winner of the night was Riham Abadour Al Hosni, with her project Smart2Split, an app that solves the common difficulty of splitting the bill at a restaurant. By simply scanning a QR code, each diner pays their share directly from their phone, while the restaurant receives the full payment automatically and instantly. This B2B2C app streamlines group payments, reduces delays and errors, and significantly improves table turnover in high-traffic venues such as those frequented by tourists or corporate groups.
The value of Smart2Split lies in being a “frictionless” solution for all parties: it reduces staff stress by eliminating the need to process payments one by one, and it removes customer frustration when paying in groups. Something as common as splitting the bill had not yet had a truly satisfactory solution — until now. Smart2Split positions itself as a pioneering solution in the Spanish market.
Riham also stood out as the entrepreneur who worked the hardest on accelerating her project, scoring a total of 3,150 points.
Another highlight of this DemoDay was the video presentation of AlmaViva, the project by Aline Fernandes, recognized as having the greatest job-creation potential of the edition. This initiative is part of mentorDay’s strategy to give more visibility to its alumni by publishing case studies in text, audio, and now also video formats, serving as inspiration for other entrepreneurs.
The 102nd edition of mentorDay’s Acceleration Program kicked off on August 16 with 165 registered participants. In the first phase, participants spent a month independently reading daily Tips and completing quizzes, while also starting to draft the chapters of their Business Plan.
In phase 2, consisting of daily webinars with subject-matter experts, the 35 entrepreneurs who advanced were able to improve and complete their Business Plans thanks to the advice of both the experts and their peers. As this edition was part of CiberEmprende, an open program for the general public, special emphasis was placed on cybersecurity and digital process workshops. Consequently, the number of training hours in these areas — as well as the number of experts — was greater than in other editions of the program.
In total, 30 entrepreneurs successfully accelerated their projects and earned certification, 20 of which were focused on cybersecurity and digitalization. In phase 3 of the program, CiberEmprende participants will benefit from 60 hours of mentoring over the next month to continue accelerating their projects, while the other entrepreneurs will be assigned a mentor for one year, tailored to their specific needs. All of this comes at zero cost to the entrepreneur.
As in previous CiberEmprende editions, the program will conclude in person in Tenerife on November 13, with a special DemoDay event featuring potential investors, where only the 10 best projects will get the chance to participate.
Meanwhile, the mentorDay Acceleration Program continues: participants in the 103rd edition are already in phase 1 of acceleration, while the 104th edition will begin on October 18. Registrations remain open on the mentorDay website.
