Qualitas Energy, a global investment, management and project development company focused on renewable energy, energy transition and sustainable infrastructure investments, announced today the acquisition of seven wind farms in Germany from Swiss investment manager SUSI Partners.
The portfolio, comprising a total of 33 turbines commissioned between 2012 and 2017, has a combined capacity of 99 MW and has been generating sustainable wind power for around 63,000 households. The wind farms are located throughout Germany in Schleswig-Holstein, Brandenburg, Saxony-Anhalt, Rhineland-Palatinate, Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria.
Qualitas Energy plans to implement targeted repowering initiatives to increase the total capacity of this portfolio to approximately 173 MW in the coming years, enabling the supply of clean electricity to over 118,000 households.
“The acquisition of this portfolio represents a significant milestone in our strategy to drive long-term, sustainable value creation in the renewable energy sector,” said Johannes Overbeck, Head of Investments at Qualitas Energy Deutschland GmbH. “Repowering aging turbines is a key strategy for advancing the energy transition and sustainably optimizing the output of wind power projects. By replacing existing turbines with new, higher-capacity models, we are accelerating the shift towards a green, sustainable energy future and reinforcing our commitment to both infrastructure renewal and new developments,” he added.
This portfolio adds to the more than 100 projects currently managed by Qualitas Energy in the country, supporting the company’s goal of reaching a total capacity of 4 GW in Germany. This expansion is backed by an expected investment of €1.2 billion from Qualitas Energy Fund V, which was closed in 2022.
Qualitas Energy Deutschland GmbH, a subsidiary of the Qualitas Energy Group, specializes in the acquisition, financing, project development, construction, and operation of onshore wind turbines, with a mission to drive the transition to decarbonization. The company boasts a team of over 250 employees operating across six strategic locations in Germany: Berlin, Hamburg, Wiesbaden, Trier, Cologne, and Stuttgart.
