Spanish Society for Technological Transformation (SETT), an entity attached to the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Administration , has announced a €6.4 million investment in Amuse Labs, a Canary Islands-based company specializing in children's animation . The investment is part of the Spain Audiovisual Hub plan.

As a result of this investment, a new company dedicated to the production of animated content is born , with a key differentiator: ownership of the intellectual property rights to the audiovisual works, not just development. This allows them to project these products across the entire value chain, from the creative process (scriptwriting, production, and technological development) to their commercial exploitation, including licensing and merchandising .

SETT participates in 48% of this capital increase, which amounts to a total of 13.2 million euros , and which represents a public-private operation with various private investors, among which Amuse Studios stands out as the second largest partner.

Located in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Amuse Labs is a digital animation studio and production company specializing in the creation, production, and international distribution of children's programs , available on both television and digital platforms. Furthermore, the company operates under conditions of true gender parity, both in staff and senior management positions, and runs entirely on renewable energy.

Following the capital increase, a specific growth project is being launched, focused on the development, production, and distribution of audiovisual franchises, with an international ambition that will operate in the North American, Asian, European Union, and United Kingdom markets . Not only public and private television broadcasters and streaming platforms are potential clients for this company, but also toy manufacturers and publishing groups.

In the innovation section, in addition to the implementation of technological tools for 2D animation and CGI (computer-generated images), localization and management processes, Artificial Intelligence tools will also be integrated to streamline specific processes.

This operation will also strengthen the local value chain in the Canary Islands by contracting local suppliers in areas such as post-production, sound, translation, and legal services, and will foster collaboration with the university and vocational training ecosystem, facilitating internships and talent development. Therefore, a significant impact on local employment is expected, with approximately 40 direct and 150 indirect jobs resulting from this activity, including production, merchandising, distribution, marketing, and services.

This operation is possible thanks to the second phase of the Spain Audiovisual Hub Plan , an initiative that is part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan , and financed by the European Union – Next Generation funds – and led by the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Function, through the State Secretariat for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence (SEDIA) .
