The digital entrepreneurship and innovation initiative promoted by the Agencia Digital de Andalucía has launched its first technological challenge aimed at the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Smart Mobility sector for startups across Spain.

This is the Smart and Connected Mobility Mission Challenge, launched in collaboration with the City Council of Alhaurín de la Torre. The aim is to address urban traffic and road safety issues in this municipality in the province of Málaga, which is currently undergoing an urban transformation process focused on sustainability, smart mobility and improving citizens’ quality of life.

The challenge is sponsored by Vodafone, which will support the pilot projects and provide access to the STEP platform, a system that shares real-time information on road conditions, hazards and congestion in order to prevent accidents and improve traffic flow.

Call guidelines and funding

Digital startups from across Spain focused on developing solutions in smart mobility, traffic management, road safety or data-driven urban solutions may participate in this call. Eligible projects must have a minimum technological maturity level equivalent to TRL 6 or have functional prototypes that can be validated in a real-world environment through a pilot.

The organization will select two projects for the implementation of real-life pilots in the municipality of Alhaurín de la Torre. Each project will receive up to €10,000 in funding to cover the costs required for implementation, deployment and evaluation in a real environment.

The selected smart mobility models may later be replicated in other municipalities, once they have been successfully tested in Alhaurín de la Torre.

Proposals must rely on data, connectivity and coordination between different transport modes to enable safer, smoother and more accessible urban mobility. Projects will operate in a real and active environment. The initiative is seeking digital or hybrid solutions capable of real-world deployment, such as predictive tools, intelligent traffic light systems, automated access control, and similar technologies.

The deadline for submitting proposals is May 1. More information and the application form are available at: https://misionandalucia.es/retos

Proyecto Misión: innovation in development

Misión is a project promoted by the Agencia Digital de Andalucía within the RETECH programme of Spain’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.

The project is structured around four Digital Entrepreneurship Centres, located in:

  • El Ejido (Agrotech)
  • Jaén (Gaming and Digital Content)
  • Alhaurín de la Torre (Smart Mobility)
  • The Port of Algeciras (Port Logistics)

Each centre contributes sector specialization and territorial knowledge, while all form part of a shared strategy aimed at generating coherence, scale and regional impact
