Plukon Food Group B.V. (Plukon) has reached an agreement to acquire 100% of Avícola Moraleja S.A. (Avimosa), one of Spain’s longest-established poultry companies, with key production facilities and operations in the regions of Madrid and Toledo. The transaction represents a significant milestone in the Spanish poultry sector and marks a new chapter in Avimosa’s century-long history.

The founding family of Avimosa was advised throughout the sale process by TKL – Think Legal. The transaction was led by the firm’s Corporate M&A team, comprising Almudena Ponce de León Cuñat, Marta Ocaña López and María Vila García, who supported the shareholders at every stage of the process.

The transaction also benefited from the tax advice of Luis Pérez of Benow Partners and the financial advisory services of Lucas de Mendoza Bonmatí of Aquilon Partners, whose expertise, professionalism and commitment played a key role in the successful completion of the deal.

TKL also highlighted the collaboration of Plukon’s advisory team at Simmons & Simmons, consisting of Ignacio Domínguez Mateos, Rocío Rincón Martínez and Javier del Álamo Lombardía, whose expertise and constructive approach helped advance the transaction efficiently. The firm further acknowledged the opportunity to work alongside Brett Bos, Director of Legal Affairs at Plukon Food Group, and Thomas van de Wolfshaar of MONTHIS Capital Advisors.

Founded more than a century ago, Avimosa has evolved from its origins in the Madrid region into a fully integrated poultry company. Its activities cover the entire value chain, including feed production, hatching, farming and processing, ensuring high standards of traceability and food safety.

The company’s main corporate and processing facility is located in Moraleja de Enmedio (Madrid). Avimosa employs more than 250 people and generated revenues of €56 million in 2025. The company supplies fresh poultry, eggs and specialised products to modern retail, traditional trade and foodservice customers. It was also one of the first companies in its region to obtain the Welfair™ Animal Welfare certification, reflecting its commitment to quality, sustainability and responsible production practices.

Kees Kraijenoord, CEO of Plukon Food Group, commented: “We are proud to welcome Avimosa into the Plukon family. Their strong focus on quality, animal welfare and regional expertise makes them an excellent fit for our European growth strategy. This acquisition strengthens our position in central Spain, enhances our vertical integration, including local feed and poultry production, and accelerates our ability to deliver high-value poultry products to retail and foodservice customers across the Iberian Peninsula.”

Avimosa’s management highlighted that joining Plukon represents a major milestone in the company’s history. Both organisations share core values centred on family heritage, uncompromising product quality and responsible production. The partnership will secure a strong future for the business, unlock mutual synergies and create new opportunities for employees, local farmers and customers, while continuing to build on the legacy established by the founding family over generations.

The current shareholders of Avimosa will lead the transition process following completion of the transaction and will work closely with Plukon to ensure operational continuity and a seamless integration.

Plukon Food Group is one of Europe’s leading food companies specialising in poultry products, fresh meals, salads, meal components and alternative proteins. The group operates 41 facilities across seven European countries, employs approximately 12,000 people and generated revenues of €4.0 billion in 2025.

The transaction underscores the attractiveness of the Spanish agrifood sector to major European operators and reflects the ongoing consolidation trend within the poultry industry, driven by the pursuit of greater efficiency, vertical integration and sustainable growth
