Jorge Paradela, Regional Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining and President of the Andalusian Digital Agency, visited the Misión Smart Mobility Center in Alhaurín de la Torre, one of the key hubs in Andalusia’s digital entrepreneurship network, specializing in intelligent traffic management solutions, connected mobility, fleet optimization, and smart urban infrastructures. During the visit, the Minister highlighted that the four Misión centers closed their first year of activity with 93 accelerated startups, 21 of which are based at the Málaga hub.
The Misión project, led by the Andalusian Digital Agency (ADA) within the RETECH program of Spain’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, reached a significant level of development in 2025, involving 215 entrepreneurs and delivering 601 training actions across its four sector-specific centers located throughout Andalusia.
Misión has a total investment of €12 million—€8.6 million of which comes from Next Generation EU funds—to launch in 2025 four digital entrepreneurship centers specialized in strategic sectors for the Andalusian economy: Agrotech (El Ejido), hosting 29 startups; Video Games and Digital Content (Jaén), with 31 startups; Port Logistics (Port of Algeciras), with 12 startups; and Smart Mobility in Alhaurín de la Torre, with 21 startups.
Jorge Paradela underlined that “these figures demonstrate the strong interest generated by the Misión project within Andalusia’s innovation ecosystem.” A total of 206 digital entrepreneurship projects applied to join the initiative, of which 93 startups are currently participating in acceleration and high-performance programs “following a selection process based on their level of innovation, the viability of their proposals, and their market differentiation.”
The Minister also noted that the program is now entering a new phase with the launch of its first open innovation technology challenge: the “Smart and Connected Mobility Challenge,” which will take place at the Smart Mobility Center in Alhaurín de la Torre in collaboration with the local City Council and sponsored by Vodafone, to deploy a data-driven mobility management pilot.
One of the pillars of the Misión project is technical and training support. During its first year of operation, 601 training activities were delivered, including 74 workshops, 63 masterclasses, and 464 specialized mentoring sessions focused on business model validation, commercial strategy, international expansion, and technological scaling. This support has enabled startups to progress from early stages to real-world pilot projects.
In parallel, the investment and financing program brought together more than 260 participants in training cycles, hosted investor meetings with 178 attendees, and organized 28 one-to-one meetings and 39 specialized mentoring sessions focused on investment.
The Minister emphasized that “with these results, the Misión project deployed by the Andalusian Digital Agency is consolidating itself as a strategic tool for digital entrepreneurship, combining sector specialization, technological infrastructure, expert support, and direct links to the real challenges of the economy.”
As part of the project rollout, Misión includes a €2.1 million grant program to finance both the development of digital solutions and their implementation in established companies. “A total of 243 applications have been received from startups and SMEs, with Málaga, Seville, Granada, and Jaén being the provinces with the highest number of applications. Artificial intelligence and data collection, processing, and analysis are the most prominent technological fields,” Paradela explained during the visit.
The grant program is structured into two lines:
Misión is a project led by the Andalusian Digital Agency to activate digital entrepreneurship with real economic impact in four high-potential sectors: Agrotech, Gaming and Digital Content Creation, Port Logistics, and Smart Mobility.
It is the first public project at regional level to turn support for entrepreneurship into a sector-based strategy, connecting digital solutions with real economic challenges and regional strengths to further drive digitalization in Andalusia
