On December 31, 2025, Google for Startups Campus Madrid closed its doors, and Madrid’s ecosystem lost its benchmark space. With the speed and agility typical of entrepreneurs, Mad Tech Campus has stepped in to take over and establish itself as the new meeting point for the ecosystem. The technology hub located at Matadero Madrid has reached nearly 100% occupancy just one month after launching operations, welcoming startups, investors and organizations linked to innovation and technology from day one.

Mad Tech Campus currently brings together more than 20 startups, two accelerators — Tetuan Valley and SeedRocket — one investment fund — BackFund — and several organizations from the entrepreneurial ecosystem, including La Nave Nodriza, APTKI and ieTeam. More than 60 members already work regularly from the space, which expects to open a waiting list due to growing demand.

The project emerges at a time of strong growth for Madrid’s technology ecosystem, marked by increasing invested capital, the arrival of international talent and the expansion of new startups in areas such as artificial intelligence, fintech and enterprise software.

Unlike general coworking spaces, Mad Tech Campus operates as a hub specialized in technology entrepreneurship, with a curated community focused on startups, investment and innovation. The objective is to encourage constant connections between founders, funds, accelerators and technology organizations, beyond the occasional networking events that are common in the sector.

“Madrid already has talent, investment and solid projects, but what was missing was a place where all of this could naturally coexist on a daily basis. The reception during these first months shows that the ecosystem needed a space like this,” says Iñigo Peña, founder of Mad Tech Campus.

During its first weeks of activity, the space has hosted more than 20 events related to artificial intelligence, automation, venture capital and digital product development. From gatherings with OpenAI to hackathons and workshops using tools such as Make and Lovable, the hub has hosted both partner-led events and initiatives driven by the community itself.

Mad Tech Campus leverages its location at Matadero Madrid to integrate the technology hub with the rest of the city. The goal is for innovation not to happen in isolation, but rather in coexistence with culture and within a community setting.

“The goal is not simply to share office space, but to foster an ecosystem where founders, investors and accelerators collaborate on a daily basis. We want investment, projects and partnerships to emerge organically,” adds Peña.

The rapid occupancy of the space also reflects the growing demand for specialized environments for the entrepreneurial ecosystem. In recent years, Madrid has strengthened its position as a destination for startups and international funds, although much of the activity remained scattered across temporary events and spaces that were not specialized enough for day-to-day operations.

In the coming months, Mad Tech Campus will work on expanding its startup community and strengthening partnerships with new institutions in order to continue positioning itself as a national and international benchmark.
