The Ministry of Industry and Tourism has awarded the company Inobat a grant of €53.8 million, plus a loan of €456,000, for the establishment of a battery gigafactory in Valladolid, through the third call of the Strategic Project for Economic Recovery and Transformation (PERTE) for the Electric and Connected Vehicle (VEC), under its batteries section.
Inobat’s project to develop the battery gigafactory foresees an investment of €712 million, which will create 260 direct jobs and around 500 indirect jobs. The plant is expected to reach a production capacity of 32 GWh in 2027, with full performance projected for 2029.
The third call of the VEC PERTE has enabled the allocation of more than €408 million to industrial projects for electric vehicle battery manufacturing, including strategic initiatives such as PowerCo’s project in Sagunto (Valencia), Stellantis in Figueruelas (Zaragoza), and Renault in Valladolid.
In total, the VEC PERTE has so far awarded nearly €2.5 billion across its various calls to 300 companies located in 15 autonomous communities and 40 provinces. With these projects, the Government of Spain continues to strengthen its commitment to green reindustrialization and the creation of quality employment
