Hotel Investment Partners (HIP), one of the leading resort hotel owners in Southern Europe and backed by funds managed by Blackstone and GIC, has expanded its portfolio in Greece—one of its priority growth markets—by acquiring three additional hotels.

HIP's Expansion in Greece

The newly acquired properties include the Grand Hyatt Athens, the Sunprime Miramare Beach Hotel in Rhodes, and the Alexander The Great Beach Hotel in Halkidiki. With these additions, HIP now owns 10 hotels in Greece, totaling 2,641 rooms across destinations such as Corfu, Crete, Zakynthos, Rhodes, Halkidiki, and Athens. Greece remains a strategic focus for HIP, which has invested approximately €100 million in the renovation and repositioning of its assets in the country. Five of these properties have achieved a "Very Good" rating under the BREEAM sustainability certification.

Grand Hyatt Athens

Located in the heart of the Greek capital, the Grand Hyatt Athens underwent a comprehensive renovation in 2023. The hotel features 548 rooms, 56 suites, a spa and fitness center, four swimming pools—two of which are on the terrace with views of the Acropolis—and exceptional dining options, including two restaurants and two bars also located on the terrace.

The property boasts 4,435 sqm of state-of-the-art MICE facilities, with 30 meeting rooms and a ballroom accommodating up to 2,550 guests, making it a standout choice for congress tourism in Europe. Following last year’s upgrades, it remains the only hotel in Athens awarded a BREEAM "Very Good" certification, underscoring its sustainability credentials. The hotel will continue its partnership with its current management company, led by Yannis Daskalantonakis.

Sunprime Miramare Beach Hotel, Rhodes

Marking HIP’s debut in Rhodes, this beachfront 174-room, five-star resort on Ixia Beach will undergo significant investments to upgrade its rooms, common areas, and overall guest experience. The renovation will align with HIP's strategy to reposition assets to maximize their value and appeal.

Alexander The Great Beach Hotel, Halkidiki

The 208-room hotel is located on one of Halkidiki's finest Blue Flag beaches. Acquired from a family-owned Greek operator, the property will be extensively refurbished and repositioned as a family-friendly, all-inclusive luxury resort. The hotel will be managed by the Mitsis Group, leveraging their expertise in high-end hospitality.

HIP’s Broader Vision

With this acquisition, HIP reinforces its commitment to driving value creation in its operational markets through targeted investments and strategic partnerships. As a major player in the hospitality sector, HIP plans to invest over €750 million across its portfolio of resort and tourist hotels, enhancing their competitiveness and guest experience.
