Elewit, Redeia’s technology platform, has launched a new New Ventures business line as a strategy to continue driving innovation within the group and accelerate the ecological transition. This initiative aims to identify, promote, and consolidate technological solutions that contribute tangibly and sustainably to the challenges of this major energy transformation.
Through this line, Elewit will continue and scale solutions developed within Redeia’s innovation projects, while also identifying and developing new business models and processes for its subsidiaries. This approach allows the company to leverage the knowledge and expertise of Redeia’s professionals and the companies within its ecosystem, evolve innovation projects into commercial products and services, and develop new business opportunities.
The company has already taken a first step within New Ventures with an investment in SafeDelimit, a tech startup launched in 2024 as an Elewit spin-off. This project originated from an idea promoted by Manuel Martínez, who, in 2022, while working as a technical specialist at Red Eléctrica’s Northwest Division (a Redeia subsidiary), participated in the first edition of the intra-entrepreneurship program Despega.
With the support of Elewit’s team, which was involved from the initial conceptualization stages to advanced phases such as industrialization, the initiative evolved into a new technology company. Today, the startup focuses on developing software and hardware products that leverage new technologies to enhance existing workplace safety measures.
The startup has created WAL.20, an advanced system that strengthens workplace safety for professionals operating in electrical substations. Using a portable device that employs LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology, it defines risk zones through an invisible curtain covering up to 400 m² per unit and issues alerts. The solution stands out for its ability to interact with the stopping mechanisms of certain cranes and elevated platforms.
In addition to supporting initiatives emerging from intra-entrepreneurship that have the potential to serve a global market, Elewit’s New Ventures line will focus on collaborative approaches with third-party companies facing similar challenges in bringing new products and services to market.
Since its creation in 2019, Elewit has consolidated its own ecosystem to promote open innovation in the sector, which today includes more than 130 partners and collaborators. All of this is guided by a clear purpose: to accelerate the development of technological solutions with a sustainable impact and to establish Elewit as a benchmark in applying new approaches to create value in the energy sector.
