DLA Piper has advised Mérieux Equity Partners (MxEP) on the acquisition of a significant minority stake in Health in Code, S.L., a leading Spanish company in genetic diagnostics and advanced solutions based on next-generation sequencing (NGS). The transaction represents a further step in MxEP’s investment strategy in the Life Sciences sector in Europe.
Health in Code has developed an integrated model that combines NGS-based diagnostic services, genetic analysis kits and panels, as well as proprietary bioinformatics and clinical interpretation tools. Its innovative positioning and leadership in personalized medicine were key factors driving MxEP’s interest in the company.
The DLA Piper team was led by Sarmad Haidar (Avocat à la Cour and Corporate partner in Paris), together with Joaquín Echánove and Luis Borrero (Corporate partner and counsel, respectively, in Madrid). Also involved were Jean Senard (Avocat à la Cour and Corporate counsel in Paris), Jorge Rahona (Corporate associate in Madrid), and Loïc Bustos (Avocat à la Cour and Corporate associate in Paris).
