Cuatrecasas has advised Greenalia Biomass Power Curtis-Teixeiro, a subsidiary of Greenalia, on securing a €160 million financing facility with Natixis to refinance the debt associated with its 150 MW biomass power plant located in Curtis-Teixeiro (A Coruña, Spain).
The plant, which has been operational since 2021, is the largest in Galicia and one of the largest biomass facilities in Spain. Its operations provide employment for more than 135 people. The plant has the capacity to process over 500,000 tonnes of forestry residues from sustainably managed forest plantations, making a significant contribution to forest maintenance and wildfire prevention.
Through this refinancing, the Greenalia Group reinforces its commitment to biomass technology while improving the terms and conditions of its long-term financial indebtedness.
The Cuatrecasas team advising on the transaction was comprised of Agustín Cerdá, Íñigo Várez, Guillermo Castellanos and Minerva Nuez, all members of the firm’s Finance practice.
Commenting on the transaction, Agustín Cerdá said: “It has been a pleasure to support Greenalia once again in its ambitious growth strategy and in consolidating its position as one of the leading players in the promotion of renewable energy and the decarbonisation of our economy.”
