Cuatrecasas Acelera, the first startup accelerator program in Europe promoted by a law firm, launches its sixth edition and extends its campaign to Latin America. The Cuatrecasas Fast Track program, aimed at testing and co-developing legaltech solutions through a proof of concept and pilot, kicks off its fourth edition and becomes more consolidated. The startups participating in Cuatrecasas Acelera, the accelerator program, will receive legal support from all the practice and business areas, as well as access to clients and financing. Meanwhile, the participants in the Fast Track program will have the opportunity to co-develop and test their solutions in a versatile environment with the Cuatrecasas team.

The accelerator program will select six startups offering innovative solutions for the legaltech sector; either startups with a high degree of legal complexity due to operating in regulated sectors or startups with significant legal challenges due to having very disruptive business models or technology (such as fintech, insurtech, proptech, healthtech, and deeptech). To participate, startups must be incorporated and have been created less than five years ago, have a minimum viable product, and a solid team that is dedicated to the project.

Meanwhile, Cuatrecasas Fast Track will select two more mature legaltech or technological startups and co-develop a use case with them that addresses one of the challenges identified by Cuatrecasas: maximize the collective knowledge, improve productivity and efficiency through automation, experiment with the creation of smart contracts applicable to business, and develop solutions that enable a digitalization of the relationship and improved collaboration with the client.

“Cuatrecasas Acelera evolves every year and that is why we decided to widen the scope in this campaign to startups located in Latin America. Our aim to identify the most disruptive legal and technological solutions in projects with great potential to offer them the legal, business and technological support they need, as well as access to clients and financing. Francesc Muñoz, CIO of Cuatrecasas explains that “this is how we have done it over the past five years, promoting over 30 startups.

According to Alba Molina, Innovation project manager at Cuatrecasas, “Another new development in this program focuses on the Cuatrecasas Fast Track program, which has become more consolidated and which we use to look for international scaleups to establish a long-term relationship.” “We have also launched Cuatrecasas Acelera Alumni with the 36 startups that participated in previous programs to create networking spaces and continue to support the projects,” she confirms.

The call for applications to take part in Cuatrecasas Acelera and Cuatrecasas Fast Track will be open from today, May 25, to July 11. An Information Day will be held on June 16 for those interested in learning more about the programs. After the application deadline, an evaluation committee made up of Cuatrecasas partners, lawyers and support staff will review all the applications and then inform the startups that have been shortlisted for each program. In September, the six participants for the accelerator program and the two for the Fast Track program will be announced.

About Cuatrecasas Acelera

The startup accelerator program for the legaltech sector and startups with high legal complexity designed by the law firm Cuatrecasas identifies the best talent from among European projects with great potential, to promote them through a four-month accelerator program and to provide them with legal, business and technological support, and to give them access to clients and financing. The winning projects from previous years were: a platform that uses machine learning to help banks, funds and asset managers, Menhir Financial (fifth edition), the banking and financing startup TOQIO (fourth edition), certification application based on blockchain technology BlockTac (third edition), the startup involving drones for companies and institutions FuVeX (third edition), the electronic signature platform Validated ID (second edition), and fintech platform TheLogicValue (first edition).

Also, in every edition, the Cuatrecasas Fast Track program selects two more mature legaltech or technological startups and develops a use case with them, to give companies an opportunity to learn about and validate the viability of their initiatives in a real professional environment.
