COFIDES has granted a €7.5 million loan to Fersa, a multinational company specialised in the manufacturing of bearings for the automotive, industrial, and wind energy sectors, with the aim of supporting the Spanish group’s growth in China.
The financing, provided through the Fund for Foreign Investment (FIEX) and COFIDES’ own resources, will support the company’s investment in a new production facility in Jiaxing, as well as strengthen the working capital required to accompany the increase in activity.
The project will enable the group to double its production capacity in the country, thereby consolidating its presence in one of the world’s most dynamic and competitive industrial markets and strengthening its positioning in high-value-added sectors such as wind energy, rail transport, and advanced machinery.
Strengthening Fersa Group’s Position in Asia
Fersa has a strong international presence, with manufacturing plants in Europe and Asia, logistics centres worldwide, and commercial activity in more than 100 countries. The company has been operating in China since 2008, where it has developed a key industrial platform for its global growth. The new Jiaxing facility, equipped with advanced technology and automated processes, represents another step in its expansion strategy in China and will allow it to meet the growing demand for high-precision components.
The project contributes to the creation of skilled employment in China, where the subsidiary employs nearly 300 people. It also indirectly strengthens specialised employment in Spain, as the Zaragoza plant is consolidated as a centre of excellence for engineering, validation, design, and advanced support for international production units.
The expansion in China acts as a driver of international consolidation, strategic diversification, and enhanced global competitiveness for the Group.
COFIDES maintains a long-standing relationship with Fersa, having supported its international expansion process in different markets since 2010.
COFIDES Corporate Investment Director Miguel Ángel Ladero stated that: “COFIDES is supporting Fersa in a key investment to strengthen its industrial capacity in China, a strategic market for the sector, in an operation that will allow the company to consolidate its global competitiveness.”
