CDTI invests, together with BSV IV ARIADNE FCRE, managed by Big Sur Ventures, in Luxquanta

The CDTI Innovación SICC, through Innvierte, invests alongside BSV IV ARIADNE FCRE in Luxquanta, a company that develops and commercialises quantum-secure encryption solutions to protect global communications against present and future threats.

LUXQUANTA TECHNOLOGIES, S.L. (Luxquanta) is a Catalan quantum cybersecurity company specialised in Continuous Variable Quantum Key Distribution (CV-QKD), which has rapidly developed its technology with the mission of making quantum security accessible.

Founded in May 2021 as a spin-off from ICFO, a Barcelona-based photonics research and development centre, Luxquanta develops and commercialises quantum-secure encryption solutions designed to protect global communications against present and future threats, including quantum computing, across multiple sectors such as telecommunications, public administrations, data centres, and critical infrastructure worldwide. To date, the company serves customers in more than a dozen European countries and has deployments in the Asia-Pacific region, Latin America, and the United States.

Luxquanta’s team is composed of engineers, each with decades of experience in quantum technologies, FPGA development, telecommunications, digital signal processing, microelectronics, software development, and optoelectronic components.

CDTI Innovation, through Innvierte, has completed an investment in the company alongside BSV IV ARIADNE, F.C.R.E., with CDTI Innovation contributing €892,000. Through this investment, the institution continues to support companies aimed at strengthening information systems security and enhancing global industrial competitiveness.

BSV IV ARIADNE

BSV IV ARIADNE, F.C.R.E. is a fund managed by Big Sur Ventures, an investment firm that focuses on early-stage companies across multiple sectors. Its target companies are innovative businesses developing breakthrough products and services with the potential to transform markets, integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria. The fund seeks high-impact projects capable of reshaping market structures. It invests in deep tech themes addressing global challenges such as energy, decarbonisation, population dynamics, mobility, among others, as well as in technology-enabled products and services, where software, internet, and information technology are at the core.

Innvierte

Innvierte is an initiative aimed at promoting business innovation by supporting venture capital investment in technology-based or innovative companies. The programme is implemented through the closed-ended collective investment scheme Innvierte Economía Sostenible SICC S.M.E., S.A., which is self-managed and supervised by the Spanish National Securities Market Commission (CNMV), with CDTI Innovation as its sole shareholder.

To date, CDTI Innovation has committed, through Innvierte, €3,215.5 million across 57 investment vehicles, and through its co-investment line has directly committed €865.9 million in 197 companies.

Innvierte forms part of the Spanish Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy 2021–2027, approved by the Council of Ministers in September 2020. This strategy sets out the objectives, reforms, and measures to be implemented across the entire R&D&I ecosystem to drive growth and impact, and is one of the pillars of the Government’s innovation policy for the coming years.
