CDTI Innovación, through Innvierte, has completed an investment in this company together with INVEREADY BIOTECH IV PARALLEL, SCR, S.A. and INVEREADY BIOTECH IV, SCR, S.A., with a total amount of €3,600,000. Through this participation, CDTI Innovación contributes to the development of a precision nanotherapy technology platform aimed at advancing new, safer, and more effective anticancer drugs that improve patients’ quality of life.
Nanoligent is a biotechnology company developing targeted cancer therapies using proteins organized in nanoparticles and conjugated with cytotoxic drugs.
The main goal of the company, led by Dr. Montserrat Cano and Dr. Manuel Rodríguez Mariscal, is to develop new anticancer drugs focused especially on aggressive tumors, using an innovative technological platform based on protein–drug nanoconjugates.
These protein–drug nanoparticles act precisely on cancer cells, ensuring that the drug reaches its target with high accuracy. Using specific ligands, the drug is released exclusively at its site of action. Unlike traditional therapies, Nanoligent’s protein architecture remains highly stable after administration, preventing drug activity during systemic circulation and concentrating its effect on specific sites. In addition, the human-origin peptide sequence helps prevent undesired immune responses, further enhancing the safety and efficacy of Nanoligent’s treatments.
This innovative approach is key to precision oncology, offering a high therapeutic index while minimizing side effects.
Founded as a spin-off from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and the Institut de Recerca of Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, Nanoligent’s mission is to reduce systemic toxicity while improving treatment efficacy.
