The SICC Innvierte program of CDTI Innovación has invested in ARTHEx Biotech, together with Invivo Ventures, F.C.R., and Columbus Life Sciences Fund III, F.C.R., to develop a new RNA-based treatment for myotonic dystrophy.
ARTHEx Biotech is a Valencian clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing targeted RNA therapeutics for rare genetic neuromuscular disorders. Its lead program, ATX-01, is currently in clinical evaluation for myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1) in the ArthemiR™ trial. ArthemiR™ is a global Phase I–IIa, double-blind, placebo-controlled, single and multiple ascending dose study in participants with classical DM1. The primary goal is to assess the safety and tolerability of ATX-01 in DM1 patients. ARTHEx will also investigate target engagement at the muscular level through biomarkers. Clinical endpoints include measures of muscle function, patient-reported outcomes, and quality-of-life impact assessments.
Based on this foundation, ARTHEx Biotech is advancing a pipeline of RNA therapies for other areas with high unmet medical need in muscle and central nervous system diseases.
Investment Details
Through Innvierte, CDTI Innovación has completed an investment round in the company together with Invivo Ventures, F.C.R., and Columbus Life Sciences Fund III, F.C.R., with a total investment of €4,132,000. This participation supports the development of new treatments based on microRNA inhibitors for myotonic dystrophy, a rare neuromuscular disease.
