ajamar Innova, Cajamar’s technology-based business incubator specializing in agri-food, has launched a new acceleration program with a meeting of participating companies at its Experimental Station 'Las Palmerillas' (El Ejido, Almería). The entrepreneurs behind each startup had the opportunity to experience first-hand how Cajamar’s Innovation Ecosystem works—a national benchmark in Mediterranean agriculture and agri-sustainability—and attend initial training sessions led by top experts in entrepreneurship, business management, and technology.

The 23 selected projects, chosen from over 200 national and international applications, propose innovative solutions to improve water use efficiency, modernize agricultural production, and develop more sustainable and healthier food.

A key novelty of this call is the opening of a new line of work focused on food technology and the agri-food industry ('foodtech'), joining the two established lines on efficient water management and precision agriculture and robotics ('agrotech').

Cajamar Innova’s programs now cover the entire agri-value chain, from primary production to final consumption, addressing a key issue for global food supply: water availability, its efficient management, and the development of alternative sources and purification and reuse techniques.

Profile of Selected Startups

The startups chosen for the new edition of Cajamar Innova’s acceleration programs stand out for their disruptive solutions in strategic areas: advanced water treatment and energy efficiency, precision agriculture, robotics, biotechnology, agrivoltaics, circular economy, alternative proteins, nanotechnology, post-harvest processes, and robotics for the food industry. Specifically, five new startups join the water line, eight the agrotech line, and ten the foodtech line.

The acceleration programs are free, semi-presential, and run for nine months, offering specialized training, mentoring, and business support, as well as the opportunity to test technological solutions in the field through pilots under the supervision of Cajamar’s agricultural specialists at its Experimental Centers in Almería and Valencia. Additionally, startups benefit from the support of more than 25 strategic partners of Cajamar Innova, including leading companies from various sectors, public entities, and technology centers, facilitating partnerships and market access.

2025 Program Highlights

Prior to this inaugural meeting, a ‘Demo Day’ closed the programs that began in early 2025, where startups presented their main achievements, results, and projections to an audience of investors, potential clients, and experienced entrepreneurs.

Besides online activities, each cohort participates in two in-person training events, where they consolidate the program’s methodology, attend keynote lectures on value creation and global market trends, and visit leading local companies. After the nine-month program, Cajamar Innova maintains an advisory and collaborative relationship with the startups, integrating them into Cajamar’s Innovation Ecosystem.

Commitment to Innovation

Since its launch in 2021, Cajamar Innova has supported 95 technology-based startups from over 750 applications, with more than 20% coming from outside Spain, consolidating it as a benchmark initiative in the Spanish agri-food sector. With the addition of these 23 new companies, Cajamar Innova reinforces its commitment to entrepreneurship and innovation as essential levers for a more competitive, efficient, and sustainable agri-food sector, capable of meeting major economic, social, and environmental challenges.
