The cooperative integrated into MONDRAGON and Wallair Engine Components SL (WEC) have reached a preliminary agreement under which Batz S.Coop would acquire 60% of WEC, a company created in 2005 by Velatia, which would retain 40%.
Batz and WEC have highlighted that the purpose of this preliminary agreement is to create a new aerospace components business unit of reference in Bizkaia, the headquarters of both companies, with a size sufficient to compete with leading international organizations in the aerospace components segment.
WEC is a company with 104 employees and a turnover of €12 million. Based in Amorebieta-Etxano (Bizkaia), it designs and manufactures aircraft engine and turbine parts for the main global manufacturers. It has extensive expertise and development capabilities within facilities of over 5,000 square meters. Its clients include ITP Aero, Liebherr, and Safran.
According to the companies, this project is based on the “complementarity of both partners” and the consolidation of industrial and financial resources, which will facilitate the promotion of investments in production capacity, innovation, and technological development.
Furthermore, the preliminary agreement reached ensures the continuity of the current teams and strengthens the creation of qualified employment, “becoming a hub for attracting specialized aerospace talent.”
