Arteche, a global leader in equipment, components, and solutions for the energy sector, and Elewit, the technology platform of Redeia, have today sealed a strategic alliance with the creation of Arin Technologies, a new company specialized in the development of advanced software for the electricity sector. Its goal is to accelerate the automation, digitalization, and virtualization of power infrastructures.
The company, which will provide high value-added solutions for grid operators, manufacturers, engineering firms, and industrial clients, has been incorporated by Arteche and is 46% owned by Elewit. It will be headquartered in Bilbao and will initially rely on a team of experts in industrial software, artificial intelligence, IoT, cybersecurity, and data management. These highly experienced professionals from both companies will combine Arteche’s global commercial presence and track record with Elewit and Redeia’s technological innovation capabilities.
Alexander Artetxe, Chairman and CEO of Arteche, stated: “The creation of Arin Technologies represents a key strategic step for Arteche in our growth in the network automation and digitalization market. Together with Elewit, we are pooling capabilities and talent to lead innovation and smart asset management. Our ambition is to provide innovative solutions that accelerate the energy transition and the transformation of power grids to address both current and future challenges.”
Beatriz Corredor, Chairwoman of Redeia, added: “This collaboration is key to innovation in the energy sector, a goal in which Arteche has been a strategic partner of Red Eléctrica since its inception. We are pure industry, real economy, and the evolution towards digitalization is part of the natural progress of our organizations.”
Arin Technologies will focus on the development and commercialization of a multi-service software platform aimed at virtualizing key functionalities in substations, such as intelligent asset management, advanced grid monitoring, deployment of smart monitoring and telecontrol verticals, and the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) applications in industrial environments. This will enable interoperability and scalability for clients worldwide.
The Arin platform will build on technology provided by Elewit as a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and leverage next-generation technologies such as Edge Computing, AI-driven asset management, and advanced cybersecurity—making it a unique and adaptable solution tailored to the needs of global power sector players.
In the short term, the new company will consolidate its technical team, develop functional verticals, formalize key agreements, and validate technologies in real environments. Later, it will scale the platform as a multi-service solution for substations, deploying it nationally and internationally, industrializing the technology, and expanding its solution portfolio with new functionalities.
The alliance between Arteche and Elewit capitalizes on the complementary strengths of both organizations, combining expertise and know-how with the shared objective of accelerating the energy transition. As a result, Arin Technologies aspires to become a benchmark in the power sector, with a clear international focus.
For Arteche, the creation of Arin Technologies marks a step forward in its growth strategy in the automation business, aligned with its 2024–2026 Strategic Plan “Energizing Futures Together”. This alliance will allow the company to expand in the virtualization of substations and telecontrol solutions market, as well as in asset digitalization with the deployment of new technologies. It also continues a collaboration already marked by successful experiences, such as the ZEPAS (Zero Emission Portable Auxiliary Source) project, which developed an innovative zero-emission solution for auxiliary services in substations, replacing diesel generators.
For Elewit, participation in Arin Technologies consolidates its commitment to technologically innovative solutions aligned with the challenges of the power sector and Redeia’s ambition to contribute to the energy transition. It also reinforces Elewit’s interest in collaborating with companies that face similar challenges to bring new products and services to market. This initiative accelerates the development of solutions addressing digital transformation, security, and system efficiency challenges. Arin Technologies is Elewit’s second investment in this line, after SafeDelimit, and adds to initiatives such as DALIA or PDEye, which together consolidate its open innovation strategy.
