Andera Partners, a leading European investment firm with over €4.3 billion in assets under management, announces the appointment of Gonzalo Boada to open a new office in Madrid and lead its private equity strategy in Spain.
Gonzalo Boada joins Andera Partners as a Director within the Andera MidCap team, specializing in medium-sized companies (with revenue between €50 and €500 million), aiming to drive their growth and internationalization. Andera Partners’ areas of interest in Spain include business services, technology, healthcare, and niche industries.
Founded in Paris over 20 years ago, Andera Partners has established itself as one of Europe’s leading private capital investment firms. Andera Partners has been active in Germany and Belgium for over 20 years and Italy for over 14 years. The expansion into Spain marks the next step in its international growth. Boada will lead our efforts in the Spanish market and expand the Madrid office in the coming years.
The opening of the Madrid office will strengthen Andera’s capabilities in Spain, where the firm has already completed 20 investments (including add-ons) through various vehicles. In 2015, Andera Life Sciences, its venture capital team specializing in biotechnology and medical devices, invested in Sanifit, a company focused on vascular calcification disorders, which was later sold to Vifor Pharma, and in MedLumics, a company dedicated to cardiac devices, in 2017. Andera Infra, the firm’s green infrastructure team, acquired in 2023 a minority stake in Ingenostrum, a company focused on renewable energy and data center development. In October 2024, Andera’s MidCap team, supporting growth company shareholder managers, announced the acquisition of temporary staffing firm Meditempus by its portfolio company Mistertemp, and the mezzanine debt team Andera Acto supported Group ADF in its acquisition of Grupo DGH, a provider of engineering and industrial maintenance services.
Gonzalo Boada, formerly with H.I.G. Capital, has extensive experience in the private equity sector, having worked on numerous transactions, including the sale of Valencia-based bathroom furniture company Royo to the Roca Group and the carve-out of STH Group, a division of faucets and related products, from Dutch-listed Aalberts. He holds an MBA from Harvard University and dual degrees in Law and Business Administration from Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE). He began his career at the Boston Consulting Group after a stint as an entrepreneur leading ePark.
Gonzalo Boada commented: “I am thrilled to join Andera Partners and lead its expansion into Spain. Andera’s expertise in the smidcap space, along with its flexibility to take majority or minority stakes, positions the firm as the ideal partner for management teams seeking to scale their business.”
Laurent Tourtois and Raphaël Wisniewski, co-Managing Partners at Andera Partners, added: “The opening of our Madrid office marks an important step in Andera Partners’ growth. Andera’s commitment to the Spanish market is strong, and we are eager to increase our activity in one of the most dynamic economies within the European Union. As we continue our expansion across Europe, we welcome Gonzalo Boada to the firm, and are confident that his talent and experience will be a significant asset to our team.”
