ABEI Energy and Nomura successfully close a €175 million financing at the holding company level to support the construction and operation of its portfolio of renewable energy projects in Spain, Italy, and the United Kingdom.
The funds will be used to finance capital expenditures for projects currently in the Ready-to-Build (RtB) phase and under construction. Nomura acted as Mandated Lead Arranger and Underwriter.
“This agreement strengthens ABEI Energy’s position and aligns with our long-term strategy of building and operating our own renewable energy assets. We are proud to partner with Nomura, a globally recognized financial institution, and excited to continue growing together,” said Iván Barahona León, Chief Operating Officer of ABEI Energy.
ABEI is undergoing a strategic transformation focused on retaining the majority of its future assets in order to generate recurring EBITDA from energy sales derived from these assets.
Michele Mattana, Managing Director, Infrastructure and Energy Finance at Nomura, commented: “We are pleased to support ABEI’s transition into an independent power producer (IPP) and its European expansion. We value ABEI’s diversified portfolio, which includes solar PV, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS) across Spain, Italy, and the UK.”
“This financing represents a strong vote of confidence in ABEI Energy’s experienced management team and its proven execution capabilities. The company has already successfully delivered several projects, and Nomura’s support will enable it to scale its current operating portfolio,” said Xavier Nicolaou, Managing Director at Nomura.
We would like to extend our special thanks to the teams at EY-Parthenon (Antonio Martínez Mozo), A&O Shearman (Vanessa Cuellas), and Gómez-Acebo & Pombo (Verónica Romaní and Juan Pérez) for their collaboration and dedication in making this important achievement possible.
