ABANCA has launched the application period for the 11th edition of the ABANCA Innova Startup Program. All startups interested in participating in this call may apply through the ABANCA Innova website until November 7.
This edition focuses on proposals linked to sectors such as fintech, insurtech, regtech, sustainability, and cybersecurity, although projects related to other technologies capable of generating impact in the financial industry will also be considered.
To be selected, startups must already have a product in the market, even in early stages, and a structured team with the capacity to develop it further and adapt it to real testing environments.
Opportunities to innovate
This edition presents key opportunities for innovation in areas such as enhancing customer experience through artificial intelligence, developing solutions that integrate feedback management to resolve incidents and personalize services, sustainable initiatives aimed at reducing environmental impact, or proposals that foster the ethical and safe use of AI through training and controlled testing environments.
The program is also open to other proposals that, while not directly aligned with these challenges, can help transform the sector, increase efficiency, strengthen risk management, or promote a more sustainable and reliable economy.
Program structure
The selected startups will take part in an initial workshop in November, working alongside ABANCA’s internal teams to explore potential use cases. Those progressing beyond this stage will then move on to the bootcamp phase —running from November 25 to December 16— where they will define the pilot in detail, analyze associated costs, and assess the technical requirements for implementing a proof of concept (PoC).
Viable projects will have the opportunity to develop a real PoC in collaboration with ABANCA’s business units.
A consolidated program and a benchmark for entrepreneurs
Now in its 11th edition, the ABANCA Innova Startup Program has become one of the leading open innovation initiatives in the northwest of Spain. Since its launch, 554 startups have applied to the program, with 268 proposals analyzed by ABANCA executives, resulting in 24 proofs of concept.
In the previous edition, projects such as Salescaling, GPT Advisor, and Galtea were selected and are currently developing their respective proofs of concept with ABANCA.
In addition to support from professionals across different areas of the bank and collaboration with HubIN, a company specialized in innovation and entrepreneurship, the program offers access to ABANCA Innova’s coworking spaces and opportunities to participate in investment activities within Spain’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
