The Galician company Vig-Sec Drone, specialised in advanced airspace management and the safe integration of drones in critical environments, has closed a €1 million funding round.
The operation, led by Encomenda Capital, Lugo Transforma, XesGalicia and Vigo Activo, will accelerate the company’s technological maturity, drive automation through artificial intelligence, and strengthen the international expansion of Suite ACRE, its dynamic airspace control platform.
“This round consolidates a decisive stage for Vig-Sec Drone. Our technology already operates in real defence and emergency scenarios, and we are now moving towards intelligent automation with Artificial Intelligence, while always maintaining human oversight to ensure operational rigor in critical missions,” explained its CEO and founder, Rubén Gil Fontán.
Strategic technology validated in real operations
Suite ACRE (Restricted Emergency Control Area) is an Emergency UTM system with dual civil–military application, capable of monitoring and reconfiguring airspace in real time, integrating manned aircraft, drones, and land or maritime sensors into a single visual and operational environment.
The platform has already demonstrated its technological maturity in highly demanding real-world scenarios, where Vig-Sec Drone has achieved unprecedented milestones in Spain. Among them is the validation of the platform in coordination with Ministry of Defence helicopters, proving its capacity to manage shared airspace in critical missions.
The company has also participated in multinational exercises in Slovakia alongside BRILAT, where it validated the interoperability of its technology in allied scenarios. In addition, it integrates defence systems capable of detecting non-cooperative aircraft and was selected for the ATLAS 25 exercise of the Ministry of Defence as one of the companies responsible for the simultaneous management of manned and unmanned aircraft.
In this new development phase, embedded artificial intelligence will be incorporated to anticipate air conflicts, optimise routes, and resolve risk situations in real time. All of this follows a ‘man in the loop’ model, in which the operator maintains oversight and final validation of decisions, ensuring traceability, rigour and safety in all operations.
Vig-Sec Drone continues to advance in its strategic roadmap by aligning its platform with NATO and EASA standards, a key step toward facilitating its adoption in European and allied ecosystems. The company has also been invited to participate in the Fuerza 2035 programme, in which the Spanish Army evaluates the technologies that will shape the future of defence operations.
With offices in Lugo and Nigrán, and after growing from two founders in 2022 to more than 17 professionals, the Galician firm now enters a new stage with the goal of turning its technology into a global standard for safe airspace management and strengthening its position as a strategic player in defence and emergency response
